UPDATE (11:22pm est): I believe it is either the spark plugs (misfire) because I also sometimes have a delayed start. It also may be the rubber flaps between the wheel wells. Still trying to fighter it out. I believe it’s it between the SPLASH SHEILDS, MOTOR MOUNTS, OR SPARK PLUGS (misfire)

I will attach a video below but pretty much, in my 03 Prerunner 2.7l l4, the top right wheel seems to make the rest of the truck shake really hard for a short period of time when the pressure washer from the automatic car wash hits that particular wheel. The shaking only lasts about 5 seconds and it may not be anything to worry about but I want to know what you guys think.

A couple posts ago I had a shaking problem with my truck and that the steering wheel wouldn’t return to the centre after turning, many people told me to get an alignment which I did at a Toyota dealership, the mechanic said that the shaking is less worse and the steering should be a little better (which he was right it had gotten better). He said if it gets any worse it could be the steering rack but it is NOT anything to worry about.

So with the alignment done, steering and shaking fixed up, I now have this issue and my guess is the motor mounts, like mentioned, I will add a quick video down below with brief exploration as I was in the car wash, I will also attach a picture of my wheels and tires as they are aftermarket. The wheels are brand new and just got retightened and the tires aren’t mechanical so I really don’t think it will be the wheels. Also the antenna will always rattle back and forth. Liek I said, the shaking was decreased not completely gone so the trucks still shakes while in idle but it is nothing to worry about as I was told.

Anyways let me know if it is anything to worry about or something (relatively cheap in CAD that I could buy) thanks a lot.

    gee.....not sure what to say.

Car washes will typically "shake" a car while the wash machine begins its cycle. Underbody spray, brushes making contact....... Does the truck shake when its not in the car wash?

The antenna movement. Check the hex at the bottom of the antenna where it attaches to the truck. Use a small wrench, check that its tight. Otherwise, antennas will move about as the wind hits it or as the truck moves.

BTW, try not to leap to any conclusions or repairs until the problem is diagnosed.

I agree, see if it does it at a different car wash.
I have never inspected the workings of one, but maybe the rollers that push the truck through the wash is what’s causing it?

Like I said it will shake during idle but I got an alignment which everyone told me to do for the steering wheel and they also checked that’s me said the alignment would have helped. The shaking has gotten better but I wish I didn’t have it at all.

Okay I will try a different one when I need another car wash, like I said I think it’s the motor mounts which keep the car from shaking. So what I’m saying is the shaking in idle i think is in relation tot he shake at the top right wheel and I know that the motor mounts help keep the vibration from any components of the engine in.

Not sure, I purchased the truck last November so I wouldn’t know. The safety made on the truck had no problems with these so I wouldn’t know.

Is the underbody of the truck getting washed as well? Could it be your getting water on plugs, wires or something electrical? Kinda sounds like an engine misfire maybe..
Check if your missing the splash shields around the right upper control arm..

Is that a Canadian thing? I’ve never hear of the forward wheel being referred to as the top. Is it still the top when you drive downhill?

So I'm in the carwash industry, check to see if a tire brush hits at the same time, that is a common thing people complain about when it's nothing.
Also it depends what system the carwash has, where a traditional track, or a belted conveyor, as well as differences between all the manufacturers
