None of that fancery to worry about here. Nothing in my RC is hackable. Has that ancient dependable oh so inconvenient key in door lock entry with a regular key.

Thanks again for all the options.
Going to take the battery out, put in in a tin foil bag, in a tree half a mile away, and camp in the back yard.

After some tests. Keeping it 2 feet or more away from drivers door seems to keep everything locked up.

    Love the old Trunk Monkey.

Ya bro, your truck also has a cd player, cigarette lighter and noooooooo intelligent traction control.. dont get me wrong. I love my 07 sport manual. But your comparison is not really helpful.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Man, people with newer vehicles honestly have WAY too many nonsensical things to worry about.

Buy a 1st Gen... so many problems are solved.

If you are worried about your truck being broken into by a human instead of a bear, you are not camping.

1st, I dont worry about that when I camp.

When I travel and stay in hotels, I Wrap it in aluminum foil. You can walk up to the truck and it will not read the key.

Or you could just shut it off. It stops transmitting AND saves battery.
But you guys like traveling with little squares of foil apparently

IDK, man. I've been out primitive camping in the national forest in northern Michigan... no cell service for a couple miles, nearest little town about 30+ minutes away, nearest site really typically used by campers about a mile away...still found an idiot wanting to walk through my camp site at about 3 in the morning. The way I see it, you are there for 1 of 2 reasons (to steal my stuff or hurt me). He was addressed accordingly and I doubt he'll be "exploring" people's camp sites unannounced again. It does happen, though.

I have been robbed. North Cascades campground. A few days later, at Olympic some grifting couple tried to move in my already claimed campsite when I returned. Not going to return anytime soon to the PNW. Not impressed at all.

Did you watch Deliverance shortly before that camping trip? My first thought would have been that the person was lost, needed help, or was drunk.

verify, then trust. before verification has happened, it is in your best interest and personal safety, especially if loved ones are with you, to assume questionable acting strangers are up to no good. safety first does not equal paranoia nor is it being unreasonable.

In city life I agree. In country life not so much. I grew up in the country where leaving the car keys in the ignition over night and leaving the house doors unlocked while you were not home was no big deal. I now live in the city where more precautions are necessary.

I also grew up in an age where kids road in the back of pickups and no one wore bicycle helmets.
