    Hey all,

I am interested in getting a truck bed camper but I am having a tough time finding a good source to find one and what brands or models actually fit the 2018 Tacoma short bed. I am also not opposed to DIY styles or tent. If anyone has any information, resources or tips, that would be great. thank you.

go the manufacturer's website of your choice and check if they have a model which fits your truck, and then use their dealer search x zip code to find the one closest to you. they're pretty much all hucksters, so there's the added bonus of that experience, too.

Be ready for sticker shock, some of them cost as much as your truck.

How many people will you be traveling with. Are you more for rv style camping or do you drive somewhere and go out on adventures hiking, fishing, ect.

Are you new to camping or has this been something you've done consistently through your life?

Pull a Trailer. Less hassle for the amount if times you actually use it...

I have camped a lot in my life. I have done backcountry camping as well as campgrounds. I am a rock climber that is looking for something that has a small footprint. I was looking at the teardrop trailers as well but some of the climbing areas are a little tougher to get to so ideally the unit would be self-contained. I have been considering just building a tent for the bed but i know my wife would prefer like a bathroom.

Could look into a Rtt with an annex for privacy. We just have a bucket design for bathroom use and it works very well

Surprisingly not at all. I am thinking about doing a custom leaf pack, but only because I may do a 2-3 week trip where it will stay in the bed for the duration.
