I installed a baseplate into my truck bed and two of the bolts I think I stripped them out with the impact. The fact they keep spinning makes me think the nuts (which are welded to the frame) might be stripped.
I ordered some new bolts from Toyota and I’m going to install them and see if they will re tap (since they are self tapping bolts)

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this issue please let me know.

I know you can drill and tap but I have no idea how to do this and also I think I would need an extension to even fit down in there to tap it.

    thanks for your help

Did you use the impact wrench to tighten the bed bolts, and then they started spinning after one too many ugga duggas?

Can't you crawl under the truck and see what's happening? The frame isn't boxed in the rear.

Are you able to remove the bolts? If they spin and spin, you probably broke the nut free from the frame.

Sounds like a retap or you may need to go up one size and tap. Get away from the impact wrenches on things. I have had grease monkeys tighten tires so tight I couldn’t break them free. On a cold dark night you need to change a tire your screwed. I usually take a tee and hand tighten so I have at least a chance.

If the nuts are stripped you should be able to see corresponding damage on the bolts?

The bolts are longer than necessary. You can crawl under the truck and add a nut from the bottom. It may be a two person job.

Whenever I get a vehicle back from a shop and know the wheels/tires have been "serviced" I loosen lug nuts then torque to spec. Always check tire pressure with a gauge.

Thank you guys for the advice. I bought longer bolts from Mc mastercarr and used some new bolts underneath. Had to drill out a couple of them but it worked! Everything is torqued down to spec and I also installed 1/8 neoprene washers between all six bed mounts so no more rubbing metal to plastic which is a problem with the tacomas.

I’ve got the same problem one to many duggas. Adding the extra nut to the already long bolt is freakin genius!! Saved me a lot of headache much appreciated!
