Hi, I have a torn CV boot. Tried duct taping it. Drove for 1/2 a mile and it came apart.

Any tips or tricks you guys might have until I rebuild my axles this week? I’m tired of cleaning the grease under my truck haha.
    Thank you

Use a bit of solvent to clean the grease off before though

Do the quickboot or do the real boot.

Or just go buy a AZone replacement axle for the same amount of time your going to spend looking at it.

ive never used one but I wouldn't hesitate if couldnt get or afford to have the torn boot fixed, im pretty sure as long as you grease up and seal with that boot should be good to go

So for now I used heavy duty trash bag and zip ties. I used whatever I can find at work. Hopefully it’ll hold me over on the way back home.

I had a brand new CV boot rip on the way to a trail where I was camping for a couple days, I tried duct tape, rubber cement and even JBWeld, nothing held up. Eventually just said screw it and ran it like that the whole weekend, other than the mess it made it was fine. Replaced it eventually when I got home.

Not gonna be the end of the world if the excess grease comes out, the axle will be compromised but chances are it's not going to explode on you right away.
