i would have thought all TRD trucks came with the sunroofs (or even if it was an SR5)...is this not true?

i was looking at an 03 TRD xtcab v6 etc etc...chrom bumpers so SR5 (correct?) but it doesn't have the sunroof :(

    you have a gen1?

how much did that cost you??

which brand is it? are you happy with it? does it just tilt or does it slide too?

the factory one just tilts right?

i'm "open" to that option....just so hard to find the truck i want with one

I also installed a very nice power sunroof on my 2010 TRD double cab.
Please list at my other posts for photos, since I can not upload from work...
I called the install place first(days before buying the truck) and they quoted me $1400 installed, but when I made the deal, I told them that I wanted sunroof, so they called the very same place (best one in town) and they quoted the dealer $900, so I took it over there a week later, after buying the truck and I paid $900, no tax!!
2years guarantee. Don't know the name of the roof, but it is really nice, 3 setting bottons, power everything, and when I take the keys of the truck, sunroof closes automatically, nice touch!!
    Hope that helps!

Yep, my 2000 came with the moon roof, at first I was like "ehh, whatever" But now I love it & it was an option in 2000, I don't think they offered it with the 2nd gens.

    I don't believe that's true.

I always thought a sunroof was made of metal (or whatever bodies are made of) and moonroofs are made of glass.

The way the move/slide/tilt is independent of the definition.

"sunroof" is the term originally used to describe a metal panel that would only allow light or air in when opened. A "moonroof," on the other hand, is a glass panel that can allow light in even when it is closed (provided, of course, you slide back that nifty fabric-covered panel to expose the glass). True sunroofs, those made just of metal, appear to have gone the way of 8-tracks in automobiles, and these days, most "sunroofs" are really "moonroofs" -- panels of tempered glass, usually tinted, that tilt up to allow a flow of air, or slide back into the roof entirely, giving the car occupants a brief but tantalizing glimpse of life in a convertible.

I don't know if they're standard or not....I would imagine the markup would be high and you would be stuck with what you got.

I've got a 2001 TRD Double cab that had the frame and underside replaced last year (Thanks Toyota...) To celebrate, I went out and had a sunroof installed at a local aftermarket shop. Cost was about $800 total out the door in 2 days and was a Webasto/Hollandia brand. I got the standard electrical switch that controls open/close...no additional bells/whistles on the switch (auto close, sensor that will detect water (rain) and close automatically etc etc) I think a "Super switch" would have raised the cost to probably $1100 if I recall. Should have done this add-on years ago...very satisfied. Check out the Webasto website and I think they had links where you can check their product offerings against what you drive to get the current specs..Good luck

I have a 98 limited and it was an option on my truck. It was cheap too. I think it was only around 300. I will have to look at my window sticker to confirm.

Yeah an electric one would be nice, I mean Toyota came up with a nice moon roof as far as looks , pretty functional, it doesn't leak, but then they drop the ball & put that fuggin' fuzzy cardboard thing that has a tendancy once in awhile to flop down on your head, in your face, on your lap etc; scaring the shit out of you usually when I'm doing 65-70 on the freeway !!:eek::eek:

Haas this happened to anyone else ??
