I’m trying to get a set of TRD wheels and MT tires for my 2022 SR Tacoma through the dealer, so I can finance everything together.

    What is currently available?

I know that for a while they had the black and gray ones for the 4Runner as well as bronze, but availability is all over the place because of “supply chain” BS.

I’m trying to pay as little as possible for a set of wheels and MT tires to replace the steelies that come with the truck… and don’t want to overpay because I’ve seen dealers charge as much as $3200 or as little as $1500.

I figure if I have a fair market value in mind, and know what is available, they can’t make up bullshit.

I know you said you want to finance everything together, and not overpay at the same time, but I’d consider buying wheels and tires after you have the truck. You’ll save the interest over the term of the note, plus will likely find a better deal than most dealers will give you. AND… you can sell the stock tires and steelies to offset some of the new wheels/tires cost.

This. Drove my truck stock for a couple months and then decided to start spending money on mine. Lift, wheels, tires, headlights, tail lights, meso goodies, etc etc etc

The T4R TRD Pro wheels come in 4 varieties.

    Matte Black
    [IMG]

    Matte Gray
    [IMG]

    Gloss gray
    [IMG]

    Or bronze
    [IMG]

All of them are 17"x7" wide. They should cost around $800 new for a set of (4). Because you're coming from steel wheels, you'll need new mag lug nuts.

As others have said, I'd highly recommend you not finance these wheels and tires. Not only will you pay more over time, but the dealer is also going to sell you stock wheels and tires and pocket the extra money, giving you nothing for them. I sold my stock wheels and tires for $650 fairly easily (but they were OR wheels).

    Good luck!

I just did this. Bought AG Taco sport. I had dealership swap old TPMS, new bronze 17” rims, black lugs (
Locking too), and falken wildpeak tires. Ended up costing me $2500 (parts and install). They did add it onto my note. I could have paid cash but I just opened 2 Roth IRAs for wife and I and savings was a little low. I kept my factory 17” and new tires and planning on selling them to a buddy of mine.

I called parts dept and got a price ($200 ish a rim), tires were more…labor was $500. But in the end my ride was all setup the way I wanted it when I picked it up….and being the first new vehicle I’ve owned in my life made it worth it. I plan on refinancing the note from Toyota to my credit union after 3rd payment.

You should try Fn wheels, ask Dustin about the FX pros. He has em in multiple sizes and colors and his customer service is top notch and prices are extremely reasonable. I have a set of the 16x8 et0 from him. I went with FN because this wheel is flow formed instead of cast.

I also believe he has them in 17” if that’s what you want, best way to find out is to email him and ask about fitment and what he has in stock at the moment.

ASK if he has blemished available, if prices haven’t changed then you’ll save about $200 off the set. Mine were blems and you can’t even tell.

set of blem wheels, tires, and install cost me around $1650 all said and done. Deduct $700 for what I sold the stock tire/wheel set for and it cost me less than a grand for a whole new set of wheels and tires and installation. I actually had a nail in the sidewall and had to get one replaced but tirerack paid for a new tire for me.

Wheels come with the color matched caps and I believe a set of lugs are $35 but I could be wrong on that price.

quote from an email I received from him:

    FN Wheels ƒ(x) Pro

    Diameter: 16"
    Width: 8"
    Offset: 0mm
    Backspacing: 4.5"
    Load rating: 955KG (2,100lbs+)
    Weight: 21lbs (approximate)

    Construction: Flow formed
Certification: JWL-T, VIA, SAE J-2530, DOT approved
Colors: Matte black, matte bronze and matte gunmetal.

Toyota specifics: 106mm hub centric for Toyota hubs and drilled to accept TRD OE cap PTR18-35092.

Benefits over OEM wheels: 8" rim width allows for a broader range of tire sizes vs. 7" OEM TRD Pro rim width. FN Wheels FX Pro wheels are tested and certified to SAE J2530 standard with 33" tire diameter (stronger than OEM TRD Pro wheels) while maintaining a lighter weight for a reduction in rotational mass compared to the OEM wheels. FN Wheels satin-matte clear coats provide superior durability compared to OEM Toyota full flat - matte clear coats.”

Need to watch out with recent generation of 4Runner wheels. They do not fit on Tacoma's, there was a hub centre change. Hope the dealer will set you up correctly.

Is $500 to tire swap high?

    Nice ride at least!

I paid 125$ at discount tire, they did break 2 of my 4 tpms sensors but had Densos on hand and did not charge me for those..

I believe $500 is high - bordering on scam prices. America’s tire (discount tire in every other state besides CA) did 4 take offs and mount and balance for under $150. They even mounted the OEM tires back on for free after removing the TPMS sensors to install on the new set of wheels for me. I was able to do a quick sale of the 4 stock wheel/tire combo to recoup a lot of my cost. Basically got the new tires for “free” if you want to do the math that way

I didn’t know that, I thought that the TRD pro wheels from the 4Runner and 3g Tacoma were interchangeable since the 4Runners has remained the same since at least 2010.

Yeah $500 is high. I had Discount pull TPMS off my stock SR5 set, remount with plain rubber stems, then mount KO2s on new wheels with the TPMS for like $125.

Yes $500 is high. Wasn’t happy BUT it was all done when I was given key. The $500 included lugs, locks and “different valve stems” (maybe blowing smoke…dunno). I also didn’t have to go to a tire shop, wait or get picked up by wife…find a ride to work etc.

There are couple threads in here about a version of 4Runner TRD Pro wheel not fitting over the Tacoma hub... it required some modification. In one case the dealer installed and the owner found out because of wheel shimmy from not sitting correctly.
