So I've been itching to buy a supercharger for some time now and I went to my local dealer to inquire about refinancing w/ a supercharger installed. I have a 2011 V6 Tacoma, they wanted $6000 out the door....... They happens to be the only dealer that can refinance me around here too.

    Supercharger + Fit Kit : $4500
    Install : $1500 w/ flash

I've called a couple other dealers near me and the install cost is about the same or more????? I read install was 6.5 hours but they are saying 17-21 hours "according to the book". Am i missing something here? or is this the going rate these days.

    I'm in San Diego, Ca

    Thanks.

I just talked to my dealer about this the other day. They quoted me just under $8000 for everything...supercharger, fit kit, labor. About $1600 was for labor. Rest was parts.

If/when I do it, I will be ordering the SC and fit kit from trdparts4u since you can get the parts for $3800 shipped I believe. Then I may just install it myself and have the dealer do a reflash.

    Sounds pretty high to me.

A lot of guys buy it off of trdparts4u then have the dealer do the install. Most of the time people really need to badger the Dealer to get them to come down to a reasonable price.

I could do it by myself for my first time in 17-21 hours, drinking a beer every hour on the hour.

Well it takes about 6-8 hours if you're constantly working on it but dealership takes their time and such for anything
Price sounds about right if it's getting done there

Yes, that's why the Toyota warranty isn't affected, neither is the lifetime powertrain warranty.

Braking is fine, even with a 5,000lb trailer

Don't need to change the intake or exhaust.

Lots of Tacos out there with well over 100k with superchargers.

If you keep your foot out of it, the around town mileage is improved.

Plus, it's way fun to puff just about any V-8 truck with a Taco.

The only downside is the cost.

Its a 12 hr install, the toyota tech here showed me the install time, those prices you got are way to high and you can also find the SC and fit kit for 3750 out the door, I got mine from a dealership in Minnesota for that price and I did the install myself but I know it can be hard for others to do themselves. I would look around and find a better price for install. All the Utah Toyota dealers wanted around 750-900 for install.

I know this thread is super old, but may I ask where you read that install time was 6.5 hours? I am searching but can't find anything. A link would be great..

To be perfectly honest I don't recall where I read that. I can say that I have gotten 2 Superchargers installed by the dealer and they were both around the same pricing. On my 2011 I paid $850 in 2012. On my 2013 I got it installed for $900 several months ago (Yah I know I waste money). It may have been in the installation instructions but I'll have to check.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the installation instructions and didn't see anything, so don't worry about digging them up.

I was quoted 10 hours. Labor on my paperwork is exactly $1000. And two gallons of antifreeze.

Nice! I'm talking to another dealer tomorrow. Hopefully they will be able to do something close to that.
