I'm a new owner of a trd off road and have made a few observations. Based on what I've seen on this form, and on other forms, as well as in my region, I've concluded there are about twice as many trd sports compared to the off road. I even noticed some hardcore off road enthusiasts who choose to lift the sport and add a skid plate. Why is it that so many more people choose the sport?

If I had gone for the TRD, I'd have gotten the sport. I don't offroad and I wanted the LSD. I also like the look of the hood scoop, even if it is fake.

I like the lack of chrome myself and uniformed color of the sport (personal preference only), the hood scoop adds a touch of bling that I like, although others don't like them. A locker would be nice but I realistically wouldn't ever use one based on how/where I plan to drive and LSD suits me fine. It's like comparing a NY Strip to a fillet. You can't go wrong with either, just whatever suits an individual's tastes.

I wanted the hood scoop, the body colored bumpers etc and the LSD was a bonus (would've got that anyway if I would've bought a non-trd).

i wanted to functionality of the off-road but i think the sport looks better. i think alot of people go for the color keyed options and the hood scoop. i've already put a color keyed grill on my truck, now i just have tofind a hood with a scoop :)

You can only get the longbed in the Sport as well. There is no longbed OffRoad.

The hood scoop and body colored bumpers did it for me (but mostly the hood scoop)

    TRUCK!
I have the off road. I live in the desert and wanted something that will handle the washed out roads in arizona. I wasn't a big fan of the hood scoop either. Thanks to my wife for wrecking the truck, i now have a painted grill instead of chrome when they repaired it. I'd like to get rid of the chrome back bumper for a colored blue one.

i got the off road package, because I liked the all black rims and molding. It stands out on a white truck. If it wasn't white I would have gotten the sports package. I also like the off road tires and the skid plate. I would have put off road tires on it anyway if I had bougth the sport package. I really didn't like the hood scoop too much. My wife is small so that would have blocked some of her front vision. Not to mention I love to go off road to the mountains and beaches.

I have a sport. Originally I was gunning for an off-road but a sport came off the delivery truck first and they offered it for $100 more. The hood scoop grew on me and it definitely sat higher than the off-road. I parked my 07 Access Cab Sport next to my friend's 06 DC Off Road and my girlfriend looked up at me and said "Baby your truck is bigger than his!" and I knew I had made the right decision on at least 2 things.

I agree on new tires and I'll be lifting it just cause I got bit by the mod bug. Even still, stock I pulled out a Gen1 yota sunk in our local mud pit. There were plenty off sideways glances and snickers until 4L popped that truck right out. Now the Silverado sunk to the frame and crossed up had to wait for the tractor when my tacoma, a baja equipped jeep, and a flatbed couldn't budge him.

I sometimes wish I would have gotten the SPORT... I but I know for sure, that if I would have gotten the sport, this would say I sometimes wish I would have gotten the OR...

I'm on the fence about the hood scoop. Days I love it and days I hate it. Same with the chrome. Oh well...
    OR rules.

Sport vs Off-road vs SR5 about equal here.

The reason some lift and setup their TRD Sport's for off-roading is they will still do pretty good. Obviously in the real nasty stuff the locker on the TRD Off-road will do better, but remember until the last 5 years, all "Off-Road" model trucks like F150's, Rangers, Dakota's, S-10's only came with an LSD.

Same for me...Thats why I got the Off-Road!
and yes, I typed that correctly!

Also, I use the truck as a truck.
A Sport Truck sounds like a fish & ski boat. You can Fish and Ski, but it isn't very good compared to a fishing boat OR very good compared to a skiing boat.
