I'm in the market for a tacoma. I cant decided between ordering a trd Pro or Off road. I don't plan on doing upgrades to the truck anytime soon. I do go off roading frequently. Any opinions?

If you have any small desires to ever mod the suspension or tires, then go OR. That's the only major performance difference. The OR comes with all the same tech and goodies as the Pro. And honestly unless you're hitting whoops at 30mph you won't notice a huge difference between the suspension setups. To me, while very cool looking, the extra cost of the pro is not justified in a very meager performance gain over the OR. The locker and crawl control with a good set of A/Ts are more than enough to get you out of hairy situations. With the money you save you could swap in kings or whatever you want and still have cash on top.

Well. Buy a TRD off road and use the savings in difference between the pro to upgrade your suspension. If you want creature comforts dont buy a tacoma

Are the tires any different between the trims? And I heard the pro rims are lighter does this play big role in anything?

Depends if you want a loaded truck or not. If you don’t care for “leather”/blind spot/backup sensors/cameras/better stereo(at)/better lights go off road for 8k less. If you do then the price delta narrows massively to about 2k

TBH the tacoma is either a work truck or a good foundation to build upon. Stock is pretty shit IMO, terrible sound system, smol ass tires thats good enough for FSR, laggy transmission.

PROS tons of aftermarket support, more reliable than most jeeps. If you have an issue, the community is huge and it probbly will be solved.

I would buy a 4runner if I went toyota 4x4 route. After driving my 2016 for awhile and checking out/driving a newer 4runner the 4 is the better vehicle.

I deff find our 16 pro 4runner WAY more comfy than my 18 pro tacoma. I guess money is a big factor for most people. I do find you have to push the peddle hard for it to move sometimes. Very sluggish would be a good way to explain it. But if you want a truck and drive it for a few years and get most of your money back the Tacoma is the way to go for sure.

I was looking at that, but is the 4 better for daily and offroad or is taco better in both aspects.

If I had to do over I’d get a 4 runner. Love my Tacoma but like
The idea of sleeping in 4 runner if needed on trips.

long drives we usually take the 4 runner. Just around town usually the truck. I do find the 4runner nicer to haul the sxs with as well.

If you do not need the truck bed, the 4 runner is the better vehicle for your use. I think its better stock off road, and it has proven itself to be one of if not the best and most reliable body on frame SUV built. If I did not need the truck bed, I would be driving a 4 Runner, and I may buy one anyway for a second vehicle.

The 4runner has a better engine and 4whl disks. The build quality is better too. Lots of these 3rd gen tacomas are having problems. Mine has had a lot of issues that frankly shouldn't be happening on ANY newer production car. Rainwater getting inside the cab, differentials going out, bearings, paint falling off.

Also if you buy one make sure to get an extended warranty. Toyota doesn't stand behind their stuff like they used to.

Is the interior and technology good or is outdated compared to other companies?
