I’ve got a 2020 TRD OR. I love the truck and don’t have big complaints about the stock suspension. On a recent trip to Moab I did notice that it seems to pack down a bit when hauling ass over washboards. Like it lacks rebound damping.

I’m not a crawler but I like to drive fast in the dirt. I’m a lifelong moto guy who has roadraced and ridden off road. I appreciate good suspension and have some understating of it.

Looking at a set of 2017 TRD Pro shocks on Craigslist. They’ve got 10k, my truck has about 9k so do it's a good match.

The shocks look good. I like red. I don’t mind posing a bit but I’d like to know if I’m going to feel any real world improvement. I also don’t want to shake the teeth out of my family when daily driving.

Thoughts? Worth dropping a grand or so?

For a $1,000.00 or so yeah I would say so, plus I am sure they are a better suspension than stock. Who cares about posing, I have Kings Extended Travel front and rear and my truck barely goes over sand. Your truck, you want it do it.

If it’s 1 grand (not 2) in good condition all 4 corners, sounds like a deal.

I have a 2017 Trd Pro. Came with the Fox shocks. Sits about 1” higher than stock. I added a Wescott suspension kit to bring it up another 1-1/2”. The truck rides and feels like stock. Thats being said, eventually I will swap it all out for an Icon Stage 9 kit. My opinion is save your money and invest in a good Kings, Fox, or Icon lift. Many others are available as well. Really depends on how you will use the truck. Good luck man

I’d buy em they aren't a huge lift or anything though maybe 1” difference.

I put a set on my truck. It’s well worth it IMO

I don’t plan to lift the truck. Ground clearance and tire size are fine for my needs. Plus red. I like red.

I’ll make an offer and see where it goes.

I’m in rural Iowa so there’s plenty of crap roads and gravel I drive on a regular basis. It’s definitely noticeably smoother and more planted. A few days after I put it on I was just cruising and looked down and was doing nearly 70 on the gravel.. sure didn’t seem like it.

I’ve got no complaints.. other than not doing it sooner.

did the install myself, front took me about two hours. Rears were about the same as I had to cut the nuts off my old shocks.

I have 2019 DCLB, I changed out to KO2’s and added Pro suspension (I paid $1400 for 3k mile used). I got 1” lift up front, huge improvement in hard braking front end dive and much improved cornering. Everything is “tighter”-not rougher, just tighter. Higher speeds in bumps absorb very well.
That is my two cents. I would absolutely due it again.

I don’t have the TRD Pro Fox shocks but I have King 2.5 RR shocks which might be somewhat comparable at least in relation to the OR shocks. For daily driving I notice very little difference. Driving over curbs and other city obstacles at speed I do notice a difference. Crawling around off road I don’t notice much difference. Driving fast over pot holes, rocks, roots and other small off road obstacles I notice a difference. It’s no side-by-side but it can move over some rough terrain at speed without rattling my teeth out.

I came from the '17 OR to the '20 Pro. The suspension is a huge improvement! You won't be disappointed at all.

Yes do it. I put 2017 pro suspension on my 2018 offroad long bed. The thing handles way better than it ever did with the tooth pick stock offroad suspension.

Something to think about also, fox (not toyota) recommends their shocks be rebuilt at 50k miles to maintain best performance. If you keep your stock offroad suspension and plan to send the foxes off to be rebuilt at 50k, you can swap the old suspension back in.

I just swapped in some fox pro suspension with Westcott lift on my lunchbreak today, pulled out bilstein 5100/5160 combo.

Aligned it when I got off, initial impressions, it felt a little smoother. Not drastic, thats just headed home on the freeway/backroads. The bilstein combo I thought rode pretty good, I didn't have many complaints, but I'm prone to impulse buying, the lady says I have more money than brains and I saw the 6112 for my truck which was at just the right time to come across the pro set for sale in my area...

Lifted the front ever so slightly, hardly noticable really, which is kind of what i was after. Looks good though, I mean, thats what matters right....?

The shocks I’d found were on Craigslist listed for $1300. I offered the guy $1k and he accepted. I threw them on yesterday (nice to have a friend with a lift).

They leveled the truck perfectly. I’m just saying this from my visual impression. I took no measurements because I don’t care.

Today I took the truck on a little loop of some twisty roads, both paved and washboard dirt. This is my favorite kind of driving and the truck did great! Noticeable improvement. I had way less body roll, feeling much better on paved twisties. Even better was the composure over the washboards.

Definite, noticeable upgrade. I feel like it was money well spent. I also like the bit of red peeking out as my truck has a black with a little red theme.

For $1k, definitely say go for it! They're a nice upgrade over OEM. Or you can always go crazy and do King coilovers, Camburg UCA's, new leaf springs, King 2.5" rear shocks and King 2.0 bump stops.

hey did you replace your leafs too?
I have a 2020 sport and got a set of pros as well.
Thinking I can just swap out the shocks and be good to go.
