I read one post in the TRD Pro Parts thread that indicated he regretted it and wouldn't purchase it over again as it felt "cheaper" than the one that came in the regular TRD's.

I have been going back and forth on purchasing it for the past two weeks so wanted the thoughts of others that actually had it. Any regrets?

I think so. It was expensive but a nice touch to my interior and better feel.

If you're talking in regards to the one that has the red lettering TRD across the top, then yes. The factory "TRD" was a simple grey on chrome handle and it didn't feel comfortable. The Red TRD one feel much smoother and more ergonomic to the hand touch.

for the price I wouldn't. If it was like $50-80 sure. but at the $200 or so they are going for no thanks.
I like it a lot but just for aesthetics not worth it. I've built a few show cars where I would spend endless amounts just to make it look different and 'nicer'
From all that i've realized its pointless unless its strictly a show vehicles. As daily use after a few years its going to start to show wear no matter how much you clean it or condition it.
Besides I'm going to be wheeling and what not with the truck. I wouldn't doubt its going to get dirty with me getting in and out of the truck to work on a recovery and then getting right back in.

I drive with my hand resting on the shift knob and bought the TRD Pro one. I like it, don't love it. It was $120 or so

Its a shift knob, nothing wrong with the one that comes with the truck. My personnel opinion its a complete waste of money.

Large and feels like hard plastic hard edges. I would save the hundred plus bucks and save to get the clazzio leather seat covers, or another useful mod.. IMO the stock knob felt better in the hands.20160919_204059.jpg

I actually bought a new TRD pro a/t shift knob and sold it (on here) even before installing ... i just had buyers remorse after paying $140 for a shift knob not to mention with an automatic you are rarely even using the shift knob.
With that said it's all an individual preference, to me it wasn't worth the $140 just to have a fancier looking shift knob ... maybe in a m/t where one is actually using it all the time

You're the coolest person in the whole world.

OP: Personally, I don't like any of the Toyota-made shifters. I got a machined aluminum one from AJT designs. Pure quality, good ergonomics, looks cool.

Do you need to know, or care?
If it makes you feel better and can afford the satisfaction, buy it. If it does nothing to make you happy, don't. Personal preferences and wants are personal, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I customize to my preference, not what everyone else wants or thinks.

Like the looks of the TRD Pro knob, but like the feel of the stock knob better.

The regular TRD shift knob gives you a 20 hp boost, the TRD Pro shift knob gives you 30 hp boost and better offroad traction.

Seriously though, I'd look at sticking some type of white cue ball B&M or Hurst shift knob in there before paying $200 for a knob. I mean, that's OBA money.

I like my PRO shift knob. It feels more beefy in my hand than the skinny knob in the OR. The
red sticking is nice and I like the leather vs. cheap vinyl feel off the OR knob.
