Not many dealerships would pay for your flight out there, I'm certain the dealership near me would just laugh. Good on them.
Best wishes to you and your truck moving forward

That's quite nice of them. So was the rental a one way? I suppose that will get worked out in the end. So many moving pieces it's wild.
I hope you get this resolved and the truck is trouble free for the rest of your ownership after this rough start.

Toyota warranty has this statement btw

Yeah they've been amazing to work with honestly. Rental is a one way yeah, returning it up here Friday and will get into a cheaper one so that it'll be covered under Toyota themselves. $50/day is what they said Toyota covers.

Make sure you get a Tacoma t-shirt out of the deal too, preferably one with the original dealer name, Addy, etc

    1. Welcome!
    2. Sorry about your experience, that sucks, but you’ll be whole soon and able to enjoy it like you dreamed.
    3. You be you, glad the pro was a fit for you.
    4. Ignore the haters, don’t let them rob your joy.
    5. Toyota wants that transmission back to inspect and troubleshoot, that’s why I think they aren’t swapping a solenoid.
    6. Dealer/Toyota has no obligation to compensate, just to fix. Everything else they do is awesome goodwill.
    7. We all are taking the same risk buying a new vehicle, but that doesn’t make us feel better when something goes wrong early.
    8. I’ve owned over 50 new cars and trucks and have had 0 of them have a problem. While there is risk, it’s really small. So I’m not letting it dissuade me from getting the vehicle I want even if it’s a first year model.

lol sky is falling 13 complaints… we’re doomed. Journalism these days is more apocalypse drama than news. it’s not raining, it’s an atmospheric river, it’s not summer, it’s “Baking”, It’s not hot, enough, so make it sound worse with a made up heat index. A sign of the times, 24 hr new cycle needs fillers and news people want clicks for $$$.

And lol on citing the Truck King video where the guy money shifted. They are both bottom of the barrel misrepresenters that lack credibility.

A friend had fairly early Solara convertible. Not too long after he bought it he hopped in to back out of his driveway and... nothing. Would move forward, but no reverse. He had it towed to the dealer and they couldn't figure it out.

The dealer called Technical Support and was told that they'd send out a new transmission and they wanted that one back to tear down and see what happened to it. My guess is that the factory wants you transmission for tear down to see what happened.

They said this about the tundra engines at first “oh it’s only xx failures” and look at us now. Let’s see this one play out also

2025s might get the same 10spd from the Tundra, that's more likely to happen than any Toyota truck sold in America getting a diesel.

I think it’s ridiculous to equate the two, but sure, we’ll wait it out. Always someone rooting for the worst outcomes….

Not so ridiculous, I mean after they fired the one guy that created the problem with the engines, he probably got a job in the transmission plant....
