TRD OR tire pressure settings??

I recently just picked up a 2021 TRD OR and was wondering what you guys run the tire’s PSI at?
(stock tires and wheels)

Use whatever is printed on the inside of your driver side door jamb if you're running the stock factory tires. It's something like 35 psi I think.

Aftermarket tires, weight, width, and tread will have some different recommendations. But for a factory truck, just use what they tell you to use.

 

I believe the sticker on the side applies for towing? I maybe mistaken on that one.

 

I don't think Toyota calls a difference for towing (if I'm wrong, someone will correct me shortly ) But basically if you run mid 30's on your factory tires, you're fine.

 

I believe the sticker is 29 PSI.

 

My 2019 is 30#.

 

Could always chalk test if you really wanna know.

 

My 2016 sport says 29 psi.

 

Whatever is on the door jamb sticker is the pressure set by the Toyota engineers for routine use.

Whatever is on the tire sidewalls is the max pressure set by the tire manufacturer engineers for max load.

 

This is the best approach. I did this after going up in size (33's). My 17 says 29psi, chalk test tells me @35psi. Every tire is different in a sense, aggressive mild and all season. Results will vary.

 

Chalk test is the best. But honestly, how many people are gonna go through that to determine optimal tire pressure? Only serious enthusiasts most likely. Run what's on the door jam. An old-school method is to keep an eye on treadwear. More wear in the center, too much pressure. Outer edges, too low. YMMV, void where prohibited, not for resale, see a doctor if symptoms persist...

 

Yeah I was running 37 front and 35 rear, chalk tested now running 33 and 31, no MPG change but it is a more comfortable ride and feels like it grips better in the wet. Even with all the armor and gear I was surprised at the lower pressures. 285 75 17 Cooper STT Max tires on 17x9 SCS wheels.

 

Sticker says 30psi. I did chalk test and settled at 32psi

 

Running K02’s at 32 psi.
When off road in the desert I air down to 18 psi.
