I parked next to a truck that i didnt know was possible. SR5, V6, and Prerunner badging with the TRD Offfroad decals on the bed. This was probably a 2003 model year extended cab. Are all late 1st gen tacoma 4x4s stickered with the TRD Offroad decal? Is 4 wheeldrive and Prerunner designation an either or choice? Enlighten me truck sages.

E-locker... I didn't think about that. There were a few TRD versions, right? (base, offroad, and sport)

The toddler and baby seat mod.

There are two TRD packages, Sport and Off Road. The Sport is sporty and the Off Road package is the only truck allowed to go off road. I hope this helps.

Am i allowed to hijack a thread i started?...anyone with a standard transmission ever heard a slight chirp that disappears when the clutch is ever-so-slightly depressed? I hear it at speed and at a stop.

You guys are bored right? Saturday night and no date?

This describes 2nd gen Tacomas, '05+ model years.

Clutch, throw-out bearing can make a noise like that under the conditions you've described.

You could get a V6 SR5 PreRunner (2WD)with the TRD Off Road package starting in 1998. The TRD Sport package started on 2005 and up models.

According to Toyota, the (2004) TRD Off-Road Package was available on PreRunner & 4x4 Xtracabs and Double Cabs, and included:
    - off-road-tuned suspension with Bilstein high-pressure gas shocks and progressive-rate springs
    - P265/70 R16 BFGoodrich tires on 16” five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels
    - locking rear differential
    - black fender flares
    - TRD graphics

That probably parallels what was available from at least 2001 thru 2004.

Up to 2005 the 'TRD' only was OFF ROAD (and how to have a locking rear differential). The marketing department created the Sport TRD in 2005 so the non off roaders could pay more for some bling and features.. fake hood scoop, color matched bumpers and mirrors.... and until it was discontinued in 2009, a mechanical limited slip rear differential. Since 2009, the differential is no longer mechanical limited slip. All Tacomas have the electronic/ABS created traction/stability controls since 2009. Only the Off Road TRD continues to have the rear locker plus the A-TRAC system (a hyper limited slip that works the front and rear wheels to created a four wheel locker-like traction system).
