First...is the Off-Road skid plate the same as the rest of the Tacoma line up...other than the Pro? Second...what is the thickness of the Off-Road skid plate, I'm pretty sure it's aluminum. Third, how many skid plates are under there? I know there is the front one, but are there others that go further towards the rear?

I ask because, while I do not crawl or serious off road ever, when I do travel off road, I am in areas where a large rock or stump could pretty easily hit underneath, and I wonder how my stock skids would handle that.

Theres 2 and they're very thin stamped steel.. They're 1.5mm thick. The aluminum pro is 1/4'' aluminum. The first time I went down a camp trail road by me hit the oem skid and mangled it up into the crossbar there and had to take them off to get off the trail. The trd one has taken a good few hits and only scratched. Most seem to be ok with the OEM offroad skids. But they are trash if you expect any type of protection

I may look into an upgrade. I would love the Pro skids, but do NOT like the white/silver color...stands out way to much for my taste. I guess I need to start researching aftermarket skid plates. I don't need anything extreme, just better than stock.

These are 15% off right now with code taxman2020. Nice and subtle and offer plenty of protection.

There are 2 as stated and they are junk. Do yourself a favor and buy aftermarket skid plates go aluminum or if you off road a lot go steel. You will be happy after you hear that first big crunch but your plates are still perfect. I went with RCI front and transmission plates and could not be happier with them.

The offroad skid plate is not aluminum. It’s steel. It rusts...already painted mine a few times

The stock plates aren’t marketed as skid plates if I recall. They are splash guards.

I was doing some trails, few deep ruts in an embankment had to power through that had a rock or two in them. Gave my oem skid plate some dents and scratches-- they did the job and I assume protected what ever is under there. BUT. I didn't feel as though that situation I was in merited such dent-work (hard to tell in pictures), and I'll be in that situation again in the future. Which is why I will be looking for thicker aluminum skids. Something I can take off and on myself without too much trouble. The ribs (for her pleasure) on these skids are strengthening but they were overpowered. Mobtown has that 1/4" thick skid I have been eyeing..

No in my opinion as has been stated Toyota lists them as a splash guard. I don’t know how or where you drive but I need a bit more protection so I went RCI easy on, access panels for oil changes I’m happy.

The 2019 Tacoma Ebrochure lists them as "Skid plates: on engine/front suspension".
