Has anyone had a TRD lift kit installed on a 23 off road after purchase?

23 OR bought new and recently decided I’d like it to sit a little higher. Don’t want anything crazy, just a small lift.

Saw the TRD lift kit came bundled with the Pro grille for $1750. With 2 inches up front and 1 in the back which is good enough for me.

Was planning to keep stock ORD tires with lift - does anyone else have this with pictures so I can see what it looks like?

Also, Toyota quoted me $3600 parts/labor + alignment OTD for this. Does that sound too high or is that a good price for this? Will this specific lift cause any short/long term issues or make the drive bad in anyway?

    TIA!

Sounds nuts to me for what you are getting. Including the $1700 for the parts package.

Many many threads here about how to get that modest type of lift, with good parts, for much less money. Especially if you can DIY.

Unfortunately, unable to do this myself. Knowledge and equipment wise.

Only reason I considered the TRD lift was because of warranty stuff. Wasn’t sure if aftermarket would void any warranties I have. Not even sure if the TRD one would. Waiting to hear back from dealership for that answer.

I agree is sounds costly - I just wasn’t sure if aftermarket would void any warranties I have.

Some of the lift kits you provided aren’t much cheaper than the TRD kit though, and I’m assuming would be just as much in labor as what I was already quoted from Toyota for theirs.

Edit - just saw you mentioned a specific lift. I’m assuming the TRD one is more because it’s bundled with the Pro grille. Only way you can get it apparently…

Dealers have to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure in order to void warranty coverage per the magnuson moss warranty act. You'll get different answers from different dealers on this.

Labor will be expensive and about the same price no matter which lift you pick. Some shops won't install parts if you don't buy from it from them. I suppose the TRD kit offers some incentive there.

Jiminy Christmas i didn't even spend that on my elka 2.0 ome med leaf pack and uca's in canadian pesos. Damn I'm glad I can wrench on my own stuff. I feel like I'm starting to sound like a broken record but an increase in wheel offset to a 0 and one size bigger tires with no lift looks better than a lift on stock tires. You should be able to accomplish that at a much lower price point and I'd say your less likely to get ragged on for warranty.

Side note if your really worried about warranty don't mod your truck. Even if you over pay like no other they will still find some loop hole to deny your warranty claim as dealerships do these days.

why you need it lifted? the OR is very capable from the factory
put 265/75/16 on it (1 inch lift) and try it and save 3 grand

I had the dealer install the TRD lift and one size taller tire on my '22 Sport as soon as it came in, so I never even saw it @ stock height. For me it was worth it, full drivetrain warrenty and installing a lift kit is out of my league. I rotate tires and change oils and other basic stuff but I know when to say when.

I got the exact look I wanted and it looks and drives like a frickin' dream. I love it! Expensive, yep. Worth it, feck yeah!

265/75/16 is more like 0.5" lift. It's 1" larger diameter tire than stock, so you gain half of whatever you are increasing the diameter by.

You could go skinny 33s and get a ~1.5" lift for "free" as in it is not changing geometry and actually increases total ground clearance. Suspension lifts do not increase ground clearance at the differential.

I have seen threads where people claim to fit 255/85R16 on stock OR suspension and wheels with no rubbing and maybe only minor trimming of the front fender liner. They are +25 offset wheels so that works in your favor to clear 33s.

I got a sticker and some cool valve stem caps...
The TRD lift is rebranded Billie 5100's with a 1" block for the back. Plus, the grille goodies.

So, if u don't want the grille stuff... it's $600 worth of suspension parts that r just rebranded. U could buy these parts and find a shop to do it for less than the $1700 Toyota lift.

Also, imo... if u do a 2/1" lift ur stock tires gonna look goofy. If ur prepared to spend 3-4k do the 5100's at a shop and go up one size in a true AT tire.

Hell, 4k would cover new wheels, tires and the 5100's and block.

i added the trd lift on mine when it had about 1400 miles. total cost of the lift was about $600 in parts that were on sale for black friday from toyota at the time. this was just the shocks spacers and hardware as i already had a trd pro grill that i purchased from kok auto. took about 6 hours to install myself. i plan to eventually go to a 3" and pizza cutter tires/sema wheels when im in need of new tires.55.jpg

this was mid install. subtle height difference between stock and 2" front a 1" rear lift.
