I can’t seem to find the answer through searching these forums or google.

Is there a difference between a TRD Pro Exhaust (meaning it’s a takeoff from a TRD Pro) and a TRD exhaust “upgrade” you can buy from the dealer?

Are they the same thing tOmato tomAto?

Trd offroad and TRD sport have standard exhausts. TRD pro comes with the TRD "performance" catback exhaust.

You can purchase the trd "performance" catback exhaust from dealership or oem parts stores.

thank you both. That’s what I wanted to know. The TRD performance exhaust that you can buy is the same as the one that comes on the TRD Pro.

Oh, I feel you there. I’ve had my truck for a month, it’s only just hit 500 miles and I’ve already got new headlights, fogs, grill, Meso almost everything interior, V5s on their way, taillights ordered, annnnnd wheels and tires.

so now I’m just looking out for an exhaust, hood, and suspension. These are all kind of a “if a good deal presents itself” mod right now. Just doing my homework so I know what to pull the trigger on should I find a deal

Sounds about right. Just hit 777 today, already have TRD Lift, TRD Pro Sema wheels, 275/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks, New turn signals, new tails, pro grill, predator steps. Black out everything, and this weekend I'm putting some Morimoto xb gen 2s on.

Only things left on my to do list are Clazzio seat covers, trd skid plate, trd exhaust, new fogs, and tinted windows

Why didn’t you just get a pro? You’re going to end up spending more money upgrading and still not have a Pro VIN

Pros are near impossible to find.

It's actually (depending on what you want to do) cheaper to buy an offroad with rear locker or sport with a hood or SR5 and upgrade to the things we like about the pro instead of paying for the marked up pro version which will ultimately be modded with alot of the same mods (suspension, wheels, tires, after market leds, accessories etc)

Speaking for myself, I went with SR5 Because I didn't care about leather seats, moon roof, or rear locking differential/crawl because I'll never take it off pavement, I have big dogs, and I wanted a physical key instead of the push start stuff in TRD Trims. Which means I can put that money into other things I value or like from different trims and ultimately Frankenstein my own "SR5 Pro" within my own budget

All I’m saying is that a $35-$40K truck with $10K of upgrades will sell used based on the depreciation of the MSRP, you don’t get much back for mods. So if you’re going to spend that much it would make sense to me to recoup that money on the back end.

    But to each their own

Look at the market, he could sell it and get all or more of his money back. My dealer will give me $42k for my 2018 with 20k miles on it. I paid $35k including tax, title and tags back in Feb. 2018. People will pay up for trucks that have been slightly modded in a tasteful way. I have been buying and selling cars for 30 years and follow certain vehicles that I buy and sell.

I had the fortune of going to the dealer here to get my wife's 4Runner Limited serviced. Sitting there on the used car lot was a 2021 TRD Pro Taco. On the used lot? Well, the dealership had a 1973 FJ 40 sitting in the show room. There was a guy there buffing it out. I chatted him up about the FJ40 and we swapped stories about them. When I finally asked him about the Taco in the used lot, he mentioned that it had been returned for a different color. Well, I asked if one of his sales folks could show it to me.... I now own it. Love it! The only thing I have done to it is put a Bakflip 4 on it. It has everything else.

Like others have said, Pro’s are almost impossible to get right now (specially where I live). All 7 dealers around me within 100 miles were adding $10k to the $48k (roughly) MSRP, plus there was only a total of 23 slotted for all of those dealerships combined for 2021.

Anyway, got my Army Green Off-road and I’ve gotten pretty good deals on everything so far and have only spent about $3,500 after buying it. So I’m still under a “Pro MSRP”.

trust me, I wish I could have just walked into a lot and gotten a Pro. I sold my 2017 GMC Sierra All terrain for $47k and I had purchased it for $46k new in 2017 so I had a decent amount of equity to play with haha.

plus I figure, when I’m ready to get another vehicle. I can put this thing back to stock and sell all my mods and recoup a lot of what I spent. Anyway, I like where it’s going so far and I’m happy with my TRD “faux”
