    Please help out a Newbie here;
    My Scenario; Purchased a 2017 DC OR Long Bed.
    Looking for a set up that will work for camping and hauling our bikes long distance.
    RTT and bike trailer? Slide -in camper?? Can I even tow with slide-in camper ???
    Please share your experiences if you are in same situation.
    Pictures of your set up are greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Can't help you with pics, but you can tow a trailer with a bed rack/rtt, camper shell, or slide in camper. Simply a matter of preference.

    My plan is to still use a ground tent, but make a bed rack like CBI's with removable cross bars. Bike goes in, crap gets packed around it, cross bars go on, stuff gets lashed to the top, and other stuff like the jack, fuel cans, and whatnot get bolted to the rack directly.

    Hoping to save room, deter thieves while on the road to the location (hotel stays and such), and expand the usefulness of the bed.

    This does mean the bike is trapped until camp is set, but I'm good with that.

    I have the same desire as the op but with the moto and a mtn bike on month long trips. I looked at the tacoma every way I could. I've concluded, I will buy a tall van like a Promaster or Transit and do a minimal camper conversion. In the end, I want my stuff hidden away and clean. The tacoma is a fine weekender, but i want more room and a better driving veh under load.

    Thanks for pics and info. My dilemma is that I have to haul three bikes and gear for three. And have room for 3-4 people to sleep in.

    You're best option then is a trailer for the bikes and everyone brings their own tent (if youre talking friends). Otherwise a large rtt or ground tent.

    Wanting to do the same thing... I'm thinking about going with a setup such as this ^^^

    RTT on top. Save the bed for gear.

    That looks cool man, did you build it yourself or purchased it? I ended up buying an M101A2 Military trailer, in the process of restoring and modifying right now. Will post pics once completed.

    I can get 2 kx250 in the bed, with cooler jerrycans and a couple bags. 3 rd bike could be on a hitch mount like above and an rtt/roofrack over the cab.

    Neither. Just found it on the inter-webs. Thought it looked cool/simple.

    Same setup. I like this because the bike is easy to load and it keeps my roof top tent out of the wind so my mileage doesn't suck.
