Hey friends, curious if anyone has or seen a trash holder for our Tacoma's tailgate, similar to the trasharoo that attaches to a spare tire but more for the tailgate. I'm sure I could get the normal trasharoo to strap to the tailgate but wasn't sure if there was one specifically for the tailgate?

Thanks, looking forward to summer wheelin/campin trips and like to keep our trails clean.

Don’t think there’s one specific for us, I just strap mine around the tailgate and call it good.

How do you get the buckles behind the tailgate? Getting my buckle between the bumper and the tailgate has been a bane of my existence lately.

I'm really looking at the @BlueRidgeOverlandGear version of the trasharoo. I like the idea of unclipping it from the gate when you need to, esp since I am a tailgate chef.

It really wasn’t that bad for me, it just took a little finessing to fish it through the gap.

Probably doesn't help I am always forgetting about it, so I am in a hurry and get frustrated. And it's winter, so my hands being cold don't exactly help with dexterity.

Wow, I had no idea this was a product! I am constantly picking up trash and with the camper shell on (and that's where I sleep when camping), it's a bit of a pain. Does anyone have this and a camper shell? I'm going to check it out, but thanks in advance.

Yeah, the straps are super thin. Shouldn't be an issue with a canopy at all.

I do the same thing. Pick up trash all along our routes. Help keep the place looking nice.

Thanks for the quick response! I was just looking at their website and it does look possible (even saw some pics with a camper shell). And yes, picking up trash/litter makes such a big difference for a lot of reasons - thank you for doing that! When I get mine I'll post up some pics :)

@Islandtaco671 how long have you had yours mounted there overall? I've heard some people say it scratches up their tailgate after a few uses, while others don't seem to have any issues. Curious what your experience has been.

Well I've had a MTB tailgate pad mounted almost full time for 2+ years now and haven't had any issues. Should be fine for weekend use. Just cinch those straps super tight. It's the movement that does the damage.

I only mount it when I’m going on camping trips, haven’t had the chance to use it on a trail yet. But I was worried about that too so I put a thin moving blanket over the tailgate first then put the trasharoo over the blanket. I drove to Utah and back with it filled with firewood and had zero issues.

Not sure why this never occurred to me... doh. Totally stealing this idea, thanks!

    Good to know, thank you!

I can confirm that they work with a cap; it's not like any of the shells I've seen really seal that well along the bottom edge anyways. I'd still like to get some of the clear 3M film to put over my tailgate but I haven't found any big pieces in clear and I don't want some goofy mural or camo.

Be careful when looping it between the bumper and tailgate. Those plastic buckles are fragile. I’ve broken a few. Replacements can be found on eBay and Amazon. I’m currently working on a mod for the straps that don’t require it to loop around the gate, and hangs from the tail gate when using it as a counter top to cook from. I’ll post it up when finalized.
