Transmission skid plate

I have a 4 cylinder SR. Going to take it on some mild/moderate trails and would like to protect the trans pan. Do TRD OR’s come with them from the factory? I’d like to find a used set and buy it off someone who upgraded there’s. Factory oem is fine with me cause I’m not going on any crazy trails with it and I’m not looking to spend 400-600

 

If the OR factory skid plate covers the trans, I'll sell you mine, I'm installing the trd skid plate in a couple weeks when it arrives. I'm in Ottawa though, where are you?

 

TRD ORs don't come with a transmission skid. The T-case is more vulnerable though, as it sits much lower.

Ya I could use one of those too. What skids does the OR come with? Just one that covers the very front bottom section of the engine?

 

Yep. Better than nothing, but not sufficient for moderate trails.

 

Just looking. For a basic level of protection

 

No skid plate for the off-road transmission .. I believe the pro has them . The off-road has only the one under the engine .

The Pro has a one-piece aluminum skid covering the engine and the front oil filter area. The Off Road has two separate steel pieces covering the same area.

 

So pro no protection either ...Interesting..

 

So I noticed this dude was selling a skid that was talked about fitting the trans??

 

The skid in the foreground is the front skid that covers the oil filter and sway bar area. Every Taco 4x4 in the past 15 years should have one from the factory. The skid against the wall is the engine skid on TRD Off Roads.

 

The OR doesn’t come with any skid plate. It has a thin piece of sheet metal that protects the engine oil pan and LCA cam bolts. However, you really don’t really need anything extra for light trails.

 

So no go I guess on the trans skid plate from my stock....I'd be happy to sell though but shipping would be $$$$ from here

 

Photos of factory installed underbody protection on 2019 OR. The gas tank’s skid plate is made from plastic. The two front skid plates end before the transmission. You will need mounting brackets as well.

 

Ah. So the OR skids really just cover the engine oil pan then u got one for the gas tank

 

These are all factory stock parts that came with the truck standard. Note the low hanging crossover exhaust and the small skid plate for transfer case.

 

You really get what you pay for. Full 1/4" skids are awesome. BAMF 3 skids are on sale for $620 until end of Oct.
