First time taco post...longtime 4runner owner but appreciate the taco just as much!

I posted similar question on the t4r.org website haven't had any feedback, figured I'd give it a shot on here.
I recently threw a P2716 code, and started to experience intermediate lurching while driving. I'm trying to determine which solenoid is the "pressure valve solenoid D" unit. Local stealership claims there are seven solenoids, I only thought there was three.
To give a little background, while on a hour trip home my trans cooler lines rotted out thanks to the northeast salt. I only realized when I pulled into the driveway the leak. I replaced the lines and did a drain and fill of the remainder fluid. Since I had no idea how much fluid I lost I followed the refill procedure until what I thought was full. The shifting afterwards was smooth but seemed as though the fluid took a while to warm up in the winter months, so it wasn't quite right. Fast forward to now and the code.
I'm wondering if the fluid leveled out and needs more, or if it was low and I fried the solenoid. I have not had time to check the level or anything. I haven't dropped the pan ever. I'm trying to figure out if I should attempt to top it off, or just drop pan replace all solenoids, filter, gasket and do another refill. I also have read it could be the wiring harness shorting out which I have ruled out in my mind because I really never touched it and believe I would have several codes for all solenoids. Any advice input is beyond appreciated!
Also, I need help identifying proper solenoid/part number.

    2006 4runner v6 4.0 auto 5at 120k. I believe the transmission is the A750/A750E/A750F(do these all utilize same solenoids?)

    t4r.org posting...

Having same problem. Its the SLT line pressure solenoid. Part #35290-50010 from toyota or u can get it from other a750e transmission.

I guess I'm wondering if I should do a drain and refill to see if that rectifys the problem, or is it too late at this point and most likely the solenoid needs replacing...

I thank you all for the info and visuals more than helpful for me to better understand what's going on here.

Did you just fill it until it dripped out the check hole, or did you get to the proper temp (in check mode)? If you just filled it and called it good, you may be overfilled.
Not sure if t4r uses same procedure as taco, but https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-drain-refill-automatic-transmission.63851/
I would start with checking the fluid level using the proper sequence prior to spending $ on parts.
Dropping the pan isnt hard to do. Just make sure you get a new OE gasket, and drain it before you drop it if you choose to. Also, use the proper torque sequence when bolting it back up.

I did follow the temp check procedure when I did the refill. But from my understanding it's always good to go back after some time just to see if the fluid leveled out overtime, which I have not done since the initial procedure.

I decided to crack open the overfill nut to determine if I had not put enough fluid in on the prior refill. Good news is it was not under filled, however, I had about 1.5 quarts of fluid drain out of the overflow so I'm guessing I overfilled it by that much. Not sure if this would have caused the SLT solenoid to become compromised leading to its failure.
Bad news is I'm assuming it's not going to be as easy as adding fluid. Looks like I will have to drop the pan and replace solenoid, filters, gasket.
Any thoughts? Am I going in the right direction here?

Did you do the check with engine off or running? More fluid drains out with engine off, like 1.5 qts.

I checked with the engine off and not warmed up at all. That's when I had about 1.5 quarts pour out the check plug.

You did it wrong. Engine needs to be at 115 to 130 then take check plug out not the drain plug. If fluid comes out you had too much in let it drain to a trickle. If nothing comes out put a quart in thru fill hole start truck and see if anything comes out I f it d o e s let it come out to a trickle then put check plug back in . if nothing comes out your still underfilled repeat till you have the trickle.

Either way I have to drain the pan and drop it to replace the solenoid. From my understanding, dropping pan swapping out filter and solenoid should run me about 5.49qts/5.2L for proper fluid replacement...

    Transmission pan and drain plug
    removal 1.3 L (1.37 US qts, 1.14 lmp qts)
Transmission valve body removal 3.9 L (4.12 US qts, 3.43 lmp qts)

I spent all of yesterday dropping the pan, swapping out the SLT solenoid and filter for good measure, followed by the refill procedure for fluids. Good news, the check engine light went off on its own. I drove around the block a few times and everything seemed good. Shifting is much smoother now, however there seemed to be a rattle coming from the transmission housing. I am 100% certain everything is tightened to spec I took my time, its move like a clicking at idle. During the overflow procedure, every third time I would check the liquid seemed to be frothy-like, almost as if it were mixed with coolant. I thought maybe this was due to the transmission being at operating temperature. So once the oil at the correct level I buttoned everything up and called it a day.
Fast forward to today, I fire the truck up to go to the gym and immediately the CEL and VSC lights are on, same code P02716. I am so disappointed at this point, I continued to drive it to see if I felt anything. The lurching when accelerating is complete gone, it actually shifts quite smooth now. When accelerating from a complete stop it does kind of hesitate for 1-2 seconds. I bench tested the old solenoid resistance and had a 5.7 reading which seemed close to within the 5-5.6 operating range. At this point, I do not think the problem is the solenoid even though that's the only code I get. I cannot clear it because it returns instantly. Its almost as if the fluid is being starved or not circulated properly. I am starting to think perhaps the trans cooler pump may be fried. Any insight or where to look next? I really don't want to call it quits on this thing I love the truck its been good to me so far.

I should add my coolant level has remained the same in reservoir and I have no visible leaks.

I think your code issue is going to be a little more in depth than just the solenoid itself .
In POST # 12 above , someone posted some good information on how to check the wiring harness from the solenoid going up to the ecm for the transmission .
When you first start the truck in the morning , the ecm for your transmission goes through a sequence of tests to verify everything is functioning properly . If code 2716 is popping up on initial start up , the initial test sequence is failing .
The most common problem is a broken or pinched wire .
Disconnect battery and check resistance of your SLT solenoid at the harness where it plugs into the ecm . The resistance should be identical to when you tested the resistance at the solenoid .
To eliminate a valve body problem , was the pan and filter full of contamination ? how were the magnets ?
Send me a private message with your e mail addy . I may have extra information you can use

The fluid was not contaminated. There was a light black sludge on the bottom of pan and magnets nothing crazy...no shavings or anything. Cleaned up real easily.

I was going to attempt to test the harness plug at the transmission but seems close to impossible to get to without removing the exhaust. The bolt that holds it on looks pretty rusted too and I was worried about stripping it. I guess I’ll give that a shot too. When I checked the fluid level the engine was at idle.

It will be easier to test the wiring going down to the solenoid up at the electronic control unit . I believe back in 2006 , they placed the transmission ECU behind the glove box .
