I just got a 2008 Tacoma 4x4 manual transmission and don't know the maintenance history on it so I want to change the transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, and fluid in both differentials. I want to use Redline MT-90 for the transmission.

I have found some very helpful threads on the processes themselves but am still unclear on what fluids I should be using for each of these jobs. The truck has LSD so I know I will need the additive for the diffs.

Is Redline's "Manual Transmission, Manual Transaxle Lubricant" the same thing as gear oil? Do I use the same fluid for the transmission, transfer case, and diffs?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Maybe redline's website has an application chart?

I know when I did my oil change i looked up the Amsoil application chart on their website

MT90 is a great choice for the transmission and tcase, but not for the diffs. Use a quality synthetic gear oil like Mobil 1, or whatever brand you prefer. MT90 is a gear oil that is specifically designed for manual transmissions.

Ok got it. The application chart was helpful. It really just listed all of the products used on my vehicle. The thing that threw me off about what I ordered is that is said "Manual Transmission Manual Transaxle Lubricant" instead of actually saying gear oil. But I guess if it says MT-90 on it I'm good to go, for the transmission and transfer case that is. I will start looking into diff fluids. Thanks for the help everyone.

for the differential, don't waste your money on synthetic, standard dino gear oil will work just fine.
