Thank you all for your advice with my last project. Next project is a leaking transmission cooler line. Is this a simple fix? I checked rock auto and it doesn’t list a cooler line do I need to call it something else? Are there more than one?
    Thanks

    4 run, 2 don't
    Hard line or soft?

Soft one is just a short run from the hard line to the lower part of the radiator, and another one returning back to the other hard line next to it.

Constant tension clamps are your friend, Toyota still sells them and they're cheap.

Make sure to buy some fluid and cap off the ends so you don't loose more than you need to.

Not sure about the hard or soft, I was underneath doing the O2 sensor and the guy helping me pointed out the leak, the one I saw was a hard line….but I found a video that showed a combo…a hard line with a rubber hose connected. Having trouble finding the part, seems like it might be a dealer only part. I did find a place that makes them but they aren’t open till Monday.

Yeah, hoses get old and brittle and they crack where they meet with the hard lines.

    Totally normal.

What's wrong with just getting transmission line from Napa or O'Reilly's or something; it's just transmission line.

I got my steel cooler lines at the dealer. Perfect bends, zero issues. The rubber portion is just oil resistant 3/8 hose, buy 8' feet, cut to length

The first place I called Auto Zone…told me it was a dealer only item. I’ll try again today. Thanks for the help.

Unless the metal lines have rusted through its most likely the rubber line leaking. Go to oreillys they carry transmission cooler lines, the size is 3/8". Just get a couple of feet and some new hose clamps from Toyota. As others have said the constant tension hose clamps are the best.

You really need to clean everything as best as possible....
    and follow/find the leak source.

It could even be leaking at the radiator and running back down the hose...

Trusting others to do right may be in short supply these days.....
A lot of people are so busy they just want your problems elsewhere.

Thanks, I’ll try to run down the leak before I buy the parts…hopefully it’s the rubber part. I’ll let you know how it turns out. Thanks everyone.

Good opportunity to add an inline trans cooler while you’ve got the lines off and are going to have to add more ATF anyway.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the one built into the radiator....

the life of the transmission depends on keeping the fluid cool...

And an inline mag filter instead of betting on the course one in the pan....

It is the metal part of the line…Oreilly couldn’t find the part and I couldn’t find it on rock auto. Any suggestions other than a dealer. Don’t really want to do aftermarket, it’s just a daily driver to work and back 5 miles each way.

Finally got all the parts around to do the transmission line and I found out that I have low compression in the number two cylinder…50 % and 95% in the number one cylinder…Time for a complete rebuild?

Do a cylinder leak down. Find out if it's a valve or rings. Honestly rebuilding your engine isn't that bad.

As far as the low compression....doubt its the block....
bet its the head......valves... or its cracked...
    or head gasket fail....

maybe try a head gasket leak tester....first....thats easy and cheap... If that comes up negative.....then I'd spring for a leak down test kit...
narrowing it down to the valves...

my bet is its a crack in the head between the valves...
bent...burnt valve is unlikely......unless the head has super high milage without the valve clearance being checked...
