I have one that is used occasionally. They work fine if you keep weight down. They are OK if you need just a little more storage if it isn't heavy. Tacoma's don't have a lot of payload and if you start hanging 200 lbs off the rear the leverage just makes it seem like a lot more weight.

I'd sooner choose a roof rack/basket... unless you're already using that real estate.

I have an aluminum one that northern tools sales and carry a couple of deer back there on it for a 6 hour trip and never know its back there, comes in handy when the bed is full and you neec a little more capacity.

I have an aluminum one that holds 500 lbs, not that I would hang that much on mine. Really nice for things that you want low, like the game hauling mentioned. It can also serve as a porch step if you have a camper. I'm actually selling mine though because I have other plans for that area. I'm in Prescott AZ if you have any interest.

When I had my DRZ400s I used to carry it on the back of my truck on a steel motorcycle carrier. Kind of a pain to load but no issues on the road. OME suspension all around and an ARB bumper and winch in the front. I've still got a cargo hauler that I'll use to haul firewood sometimes. No issues with it either.

No issues here either...given, the little Grom weights next to nothing but my big bike has to be trailered.

You never mentioned in OP what you want to haul on a hitch carrier. :notsure:

Grom FTW! Freaking love mine. I run dual sport tires as well, 164cc BBK etc etc. Thing is a hoot! Not sure if you have seen my fork mod for the OG grom over at hondagrom.net but its cheap, easy and gets you another inch of fork travel. Works really well when paired with some 20wt oil.

FYI OP i have the same carrier as this pic, use it here n there for my WR450F and never had an issue makes it nice to have the full bed space usable.

I use one on a high clearance front receiver... GREAT for firewood as that stuff makes a mess wherever you put it..

Also carry an aluminum m/c carrier, used to haul a grom but I much prefer the Ruckus for an escape pod over the grom.

    back to bone stock.
i've taken mine empty on a few trips to AZ. well, it holds empty ice chests. the hopes was to bring back deer meat.

they eat up some departure angles stuff when going offroad.

I just bought a folding one to put on the trailer I’m building. I had to cut it up a little, and remove the hinge to use it on my trailer.

The hinge can go back on if I want to use it on the truck though.

In either configuration, it’ll be holding my cooler.

Looking to haul a toy or two while camping etc. Just wasnt sure if they are janky or useful but it seems I may pick one up because Tepui/bed bars limits my carrying ability.
