I destroyed both the trailer plug and bracket on my 2005 Tacoma Sport. Does anyone out there that installed new rear bumpers have a extra one? I'd be happy to buy it from you and throw in some Alaskan Smoked salmon as an incentive.

Why not drill the bumper and mount it higher so that won't happen again?

I'd highly recommend doing this. I did it after bending the bracket all over the place several times and having it finally break off. Couple of pics for you:

Was pretty easy to do. It's just a cheapo plug from a discount place in Canada called Princess Auto.

after breaking mine exiting a creek bottom I put my hitch in when headed to the ranch. The hitch will protect the plug.

At the dealership where i work we take off the left licence plate light and we put the trailer plug in the hole. It's doing a clean work and we don't make a extra hole in the bumper

The bracket is junk. I would also relocate to the bumper, highly suggested.

Actually, those Hopkins plugs like you have are about the best thing going for RV sockets - I run the exact same one in the same place, from the same place. Great minds think alike.
