I thought this was interesting. They took a TH and a RR and put them through their paces to see what each could do on a variety of off road obstacles.
Both performed very well. However, only one can come out on top, according to TFL.

They chose the RR, but they gave both trucks the props they deserve. Seems like the RR edged out the TH just a bit. Plus, the TH is much more expensive than the RR.

I think I'd choose the RR out of those two. TH is a cool package but I think the stocck TRD OR would be just as capable, and do it for less. TH doesn't offer many off road advantages IMO. The TRD OR would probably be just as capable as the RR on this course. The RR does offer more of a bump in performance over the FX4 Ranger the biggest being an exclusive powerplant that increases power out put. RR does more for less with out the need for a hybrid system complicating things. Other than the extra length in wheel base, and I still think it would outperform on this course the Jeep Gladiator is more capable offroad than a RR or TH, and come in at a cheaper price, might even have a better tow rating on road.

Anybody can beat the balls out of a truck they dont own, they only care about you tube likes , the big challenge is whats the ford worth in 3 years compared to a toyota… fords are garbage before the warrenty runs out, and novelty wears off , then all the recalls… but hey whatever i know what value my toyotas have after years of use

I’ve driven both. I got the TH. Not sure it was logical, but the Ford felt cheap and less refined. I’m sure the RR is a better value but the TH to me was nicer. For off-road capability it’s hard to beat the front locker.

I drive a ram pro master (random van from a fleet of 50, so different vans regularly) for work almost every day, I think it has the same v6. I despise them with a passion. Check engine lights, safety features not working, bugs with the computer. How vans with under 10k miles can have so many problems is beyond me.

Toyota put lighbars before lookers on their Halo pick up. I prefer the Tacoma line up over Ranger Ford ditched their extended cab Ranger.

Ford might still have the better chassis going forward compared to Toyota's GAF platform.

Another completely subjective thread and this being a Toyota forum not surprised for the hate of the RR. If I was giving only those two choices it wouldn't even be close. The ugly a$$ fake looking snorkel and the Chevy Avalanche thingy in the back gives the RR 1000 extra bonus points but then again a 10 who smokes becomes a 4 in my book so all depends on what you are ok with.

Speculation on my part no idea which is better. It would be cool to get a rolling chassis of each truck for comparison.

Cant disagree with this at all. People forking over 65K for a goofy looking, overly badged truck. No freaking way.

I'd rather have Stubby the RCSB Ram over the Ranger Raptor or Trailhunter. Came in at a much better price and had a normally aspirated V8. That Ram will probably last longer than this particular Toyota and Ford.

Stellantis might be in trouble, they think people wants BEV Rams and Challengers, nobody wants that. They also launched an all new tt I6 for their light duty trucks when trucks aren't selling. Look at the problems the last manufacture that launched an all new tt6 for their trucks is having Toyota. I doubt if Stellantis is going away, I suspect Ram and Dodge ptoducts to be around, andcthey have all their overseas sales. I think Stellantis will outlive Rivian, those things have got to be expensive to immport to China.
