Installed the TracRac TracOne ladder racks on my SR5 over the weekend. I cut 6-3/4" off the top crossbars which gives a 2" overhang from the outside edge of the cleats. I need to throw my kayak up there upside down and see what I have for clearance between between the cab roof to see if I need to modify the uprights. I ended up not using the tie-downs that came with it and bought the load stop tie downs.

Looks good. How difficult is it to swap these on and off.. 10 minutes?

Thanks unclejunk, Yeah, not bad to remove, ~ 10 min. I keep the allen wrench in my glove box, faster with a longer allen wrench socket and ratchet. The cap nut is close to the bed liner, I could not use my standard length allen head socket with a 3/8" ratchet.

I thought about getting this rack as well, for my 12' kayak. But I am also looking at the Thule Xsporter. They're pricey, though.

The "adjustable mechanism" that you pay $800 for on this rack is almost completely useless as our bed sides will not allow the rack to drop anywhere near below the cab roof line. If that's okay with you, do it! Otherwise, you might end up like some other guy on TW I saw that hacked 8" off his $800 racks... food for thought

Yeah, I saw that. I don't think I'd hack 8" off. But the adjustability is definitely a concern. There are a couple of used Thule racks locally, both for around $500, so not bad.

Can you adjust the height on the TracRac?

I think that if you could get it for a reasonable price I'd say go ahead and cut it, but yeah 8" seemed crazy long.

I'm pretty sure as of right now only the xsporter can be adjusted, which is really too bad. Other option, is to fab your own.
