Anyone knows how long does it takes before the tpms register? Ive drove a good 15 miles to work and it didn’t read the pressure at all. A few days ago the check engine light came on after we drove about 30 miles and there was no reading. Just curious if this is normal?

Mine has a TPMS reset button under the steering wheel...Check to see if yours does too.

No. It is not normal, and you are about the third person to post this in the past week or so.

Hopefully, those folks will post their resolutions.

My only guess is that the system is dependent on determining which sensor is in which wheel. The only way that I can imagine a single antenna doing that is by comparing the change in wheel RPM as you go around corners. So, try a good drive with some corners and no stops? From my experience, stopping seemed to restart the process?

Did you recently rotate the tires, sometimes takes a little while after rotating and resetting.

If I'm right, the sensors won't go blank by themselves after a rotation. You have to hold the button down for that to happen? I've only used the reset button a few times. Once after a cross rotation rather than asking the dealer to do that. It took no time for the pressures to come up on the proper tires. Less than a couple minutes at about 35mph.

    Page 468 of the manual.

Hold it until the low pressure light flashes three times. Then drive 25mph or faster for about 10min.

I've had it read again while going slower than 25mph. It just takes a lot longer.

I think it does go blank and then registers numbers after about 10 miles of driving

    The tpms screen?
You get there by pushing the direction left or right on the steering wheel controls.

Use the button on the right side of your steering wheel. If your center display is on the first screen (speed or MPGs), bump it right three times, and you're there.

I'm looking forward to being done with ToyotaCare. So far for messing around with stuff when taking the wheels off (lubing the leafs until I realized that you can do that without pulling the wheel), the TPMS didn't seem to care. I was curious to see how fast it would determine the new positions after the cross over. I just swapped sides since the dealer just did the regular rotation and was barely out of the neighborhood before it started registering. I did hold the button down though first.

When I just changed my tires the other day it registered them super fast. I backed out of the bay, and drove about 50’ around the corner of the building. Stopped and all the pressures were reading

Don't forget to set the tires to your intended pressures BEFORE doing the button reset....

Yeah. I don't have the vehicle symbol on mine. I wonder if it's a Sport vs. Off Road or a US market vs Canadian feature.

I do have the sensors on both sets of rims.

Good point. For the US, the only real difference that I am aware of is the ORs get the Inclinometer, which I believe is a screen below the Compass screen? The symbol might be different for the CA trucks, but you should have the pressures reported. Be sure to scroll up and down on each screen?
