I've had my 2017 Tacoma for about a week now and everything has been great, but this morning on my ride to work I noticed the TPMS light on the gauge cluster blinking. After maybe 20 seconds it stopped blinking and turned solid. I changed the information screen over to tire pressure only to see all 4 tires showing -- for the pressure. I parked at work, turned the truck off then back on to find the same issue. The light will blink for a few seconds, then turn solid. I have not tried to reset yet, I will do that on my lunch break, but has anyone experienced this exact same issue before? It was certified used from a Toyota dealership so I am hoping if this is a sensor problem these will be covered under their "bumper to bumper" warranty.

Likely pressures below threshold on cold mornings causing the light to illuminate or low/dead batteries in the tpms sensors.

It is a little cold here, but I don't think that's it because the monitoring system on the gauge cluster shows no readings for any of them. I wouldn't be surprised if they were a little low but to just stop working entirely leads me to believe it's something else, likely sensor related.

A blinking low tire light usually indicates some sort of problem with the TPMS sensor; your truck, being a 2017, likely has nearly nine-year old TPMS sensors which have an advertised life expectancy of ten years, so I'd be inclined to believe that in addition to a potential low tire, you may have a TPMS sensor going dead. Sometimes, the 'dead' indicator will go away if the TPMS sensor is just 'cold' or not 'on'; I believe that these sensor batteries are designed to 'shut off' to conserve energy if there's no detectable motion, then once tires are rolling they 'wake up'.

Does the truck have stock wheels or aftermarket wheels? My off-roading tires don't have TPMS sensors in them. The light will not come on until you drive 20 minutes. Then it will flash and then say on. My guess is you don't have any sensors at all.

The gauge display is just that, additional display information. Whether or not they display does NOT reflect what the tire pressure monitoring system knows. For example if the locating function fails on one sensor, no information will display, but the system still knows all 4 tire pressures.

I have driven the truck probably 600 miles at least before encountering this, so the sensors are definitely there.

My 2016 has started doing this recently. Doesn't do it often, but when it does it tends to be on a cold morning. I assume one or more sensors are reaching end of life and will need to be replaced. Once it gets to be more of a regular problem I'll replace all four.

Yeah from what I am reading all signs are pointing to failing sensor(s). Since the truck was just purchased a week ago and was certified used, this should be covered under the warranty. I plan to call when they're open today to find out.

Stock wheels I believe (Sorry I'm not positive on this, I'm a new Tacoma enthusiast)

That's fine. We all start somewhere right? If you get a chance, post up a picture of them. The odds of all 4 sensors going bad at the same exact time are pretty slim. I'm still going with there aren't any sensors at all.

    what were the pressures though?
Grab a gauge and go check them, and compare. You are going to want to know- is the light turning on because they are low and the system is working, or because there is an issue with the system?

Of course. I don't have any sensors what so ever and my truck does EXACTLY what the OP's truck is doing. Does that mean I'm incorrect and I have 4 sensors installed but the pressures are too low or one sensor is not working or the system doesn't know locations? No, it is another viable option that could be happening to the OP. I can drive all day long without the light even attempting to illuminate so long as I shut the truck off every 19 minutes.

If op has 4 sensors and one is failing it would exhibit these exact symptoms as well. The truck doesn’t care if there is a single missing sensor or 4.
This is more likely because of what op said in post #7 and has presumably driven for more than 19 minutes at a time.
Could be the cause though I guess

My 16 started doing this about a year and a half ago at 120k miles right after a getting new tires. It was intermittent. I have an hour drive to work so I always hit the 22 minute mark to get tge light flashing. I could have pressures showing going to work then the same night coming home I would see no pressures then get tge blinking light going to solid at 22 minutes. Sometimes I would see pressures after the light came on it would go off and I'll see pressure.

I bought a tpms reader and it took awhile to finally find the bad sensor since you have to check it when the sensor is not transmitting.

Then it started working fine during the winter and throughspring.( we hit freezing maybe 2 times lol)

Then it stated coming back this past summer and finally went to the light comes on right away so I'm sure my sensor is finally done.

I haven't been able to find anything on exactly what the 2 tpms fault light modes are but it seems like the light on after 22 minutes is that it can't determine location and the light on right away is the sensor is dead.

Then we get this guy with no sensors and only gets the light after 20 some minutes.

I've gotten used to the light being on all the time. It's so much better than watching the dash all the time to see if I have pressures or waiting for the light to come on.

Nice summation. The Op has 600 miles on a "new" to him truck, the likelihood he has not driven for longer than 20 minutes at a time is highly likely.

I disagree. When I get a new vehicle the first thing I do is take a long drive. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
