Looking at getting boss 2.0 or 2.5. Shop was recommending 2.0 and saying the 2.5 are comparable to king or fox. Any insight on this? comparisons between the two from people who have them?

No personal experience with those Toytec, but one main difference with the 2.5 is they have an aluminum shock body. That will be nice for corrosion resistance. Looks like they also come with a 700lb spring vs a 600lb spring (King). 2.0 looks like its an IFP shock, and 2.5 come in either IFP or remote reservoir.

Hopefully others can chime in with experience on both options.

Curious, why did the shop recommend the 2.0?

I believe they quoted with the 2.0 because they were saying it was more in my budget.

Any insight as to whether this is a reasonable quote?

I was gonna get the 2.0 but the fact they come with a 700lb imo makes them too stiff if you don’t have any weight up front especially if you preload them for lift.

Not sure what you mean by reasonable. We don't sell those parts.

labor seems a little high and same with alignment, but then again you did want the SPC arms.

The price for a full lift installed is about right. I just put in a full Dobinsons set up for about that. I believe I read the Toytech are the same as another manufacturer rebranded, cannot remember who it was.

I agree with the fox or I am loving the Dobinson. If you are getting a 700 pound spring your front needs some extra weight or you will ride stiff

I agree. That labor is high. 4hrs tops.

I meant the hourly rate. For our stage kits (similar in product), we charge 7 hours, $150/hr, but that includes setting ride height as well. IFP shocks should be very simple to install

This is what one of the Toytec guys recommended for me...

I'd suggest giving them a call. They're extremely helpful.

As for the labor, mine needed a CMC. Total labor (including CMC) was $2400. I think that was a bit much...

    *edit*

That labor cost included mounting/balancing the new tires/wheels as well, though.

Would 100lbs in the front still be too stiff?

I found another shop in my area who quoted me $890 for labor with alignment which seems a lot better. Are the SPC UCA harder to dial in with alignment?

The Toytec Boss line is made by Elka. Elka is comparable to King and Fox.

My brother has the 2.5 non reservoir ones and I don’t know if they are valved progressively maybe but even with a 700lb springs his ride soft and he doesn’t have any weight up front. I can tell you my falcon shocks ride way harsher than his

I have the 2.5 with reservoir up front and 2.5 with no reservoir in the rear with 3 leaf add a leaf. They are made by Elka with Toytec branding. The front rides very good the rear is the week link on the Tacoma but not because of the shocks. Everything is well made and has good quality anodizing.

I have noticed if I drive the truck hard that there is a noticeable deference in terms of shock temperatures between front and rear.
