I'm guessing this is a nationwide thing but my dealer here in the Kansas City area has this for every new vehicle.
Obviously they are betting that most people don't keep their Toyota for 30 years and several hundred thousand miles like do - and it is only applicable to the original owner as it's not transferable - but the last part listing what is covered is better than I expected.
Doesn't cost any extra and my salesman said although it has probably cut into their extended warranty sales (a cash cow for dealerships) it's good for guys like me who don't buy the extended warranties anyway but keep their vehicles for decades.
I thought I'd toss it out there and see what you guys think.

"What's covered under the Adams Toyota Lifetime Warranty?

The components covered are the same as the manufacturer's powertrain warranty plus any additional coverage that is listed on the Lifetime Warranty Certificate provided when you buy your new Toyota from us.

How long is the Adams Toyota Lifetime Warranty really good for?

The Lifetime Warranty is valid for as long as you own and you drive the vehicle - for an unlimited time, unlimited miles. For the useful life of the car.

    How much will it cost?

Nothing. Adams Toyota Lifetime Warranty comes standard with every new eligible Toyota vehicle we sell, at no additional charge to you.

Is there any extra maintenance required to maintain the warranty?

No extra maintenance is required. You must simply follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance as referred to in the owners guide.

Do I have to have all my service completed at your dealership?

No. Our Service Department will certainly exceed your expectations but you are not required to service here. To maintain the Warranty, you must perform the recommended schedule maintenance and keep your records.

Where am I covered by the Adams Toyota Lifetime Warranty?

The Lifetime Warranty is good at any pre-approved licensed repair shop in the United States.

Is the Adams Toyota Lifetime Warranty transferable if I sell the vehicle?

No. The Lifetime Warranty stays with the original owner as long as they own and drive the vehicle.

    What's the catch?

None. No fees no gimmicks. It's just another added value to purchase your vehicles from Adams Toyota.

    Details of Coverage

Limited Warranty coverage applies for Breakdowns to the Covered Parts listed below and related labor, provided they are not covered by any other insurance or the manufacturer’s warranty. Taxes and fluids needed for authorized repairs are also included. Only those parts stated under "What Is Covered" are covered by this Limited Warranty.

Engine – All internally lubricated parts; engine block; cylinder head(s); harmonic balancer; intake and exhaust manifolds; mounts; oil pan; factory installed supercharger or turbo-charger; timing belt/chain and tensioner; timing chain cover; valve cover(s); water pump. • Transmission – All internally lubricated parts within the transmission; cooler and cooler lines (metal); mounts; throttle valve cable; torque converter; flywheel/flex plate; transmission and transfer case housing; oil pan; vacuum modulator; external and internal control units. • Drive System – All internally lubricated parts within the drive/transaxle assembly, including axles and axle bearings; constant velocity joints and boots; drive axle housings; differential cover; hub bearings; front hub locking assemblies; drive shaft and drive support; universal joints.

    Will not cover commercial use."

It sounds too good to be true but I really don't see what's wrong with it. Pretty cool that even the CV axles and boots are covered, because those like to break down with age. It sounds like a dealer specific thing though, so hopefully you don't plan on moving within the next 10-15 years.

Sounds good but the lifetime warranty will probably start after the manufacturers warranty ends. Hopefully they are still in business when that happens.

Sure wish the dealership I bought from had something like this. Wonder if I could have negotiated it in had I seen it before.

The real test would be if you actually brought the vehicle in many years later and if they deny coverage due to abuse, or whatever else they come up with. I see this all the time with home warranty companies in real estate. Coverage sounds great in the ads, but in real life they deny everything. Have to fight tooth and nail with them.

Didn't cost anything extra. Oh sure they wanted to sell me the usual extended warranty for 60,000 miles but when I just said no he finally said this will work pretty well for people like me who are very long term owners.

Yes, it is a dealer specific sales tool. Note that warranties ONLY cover defects in material or workmanship, exactly like the Toyota warranty. If a part breaks down for for any reason other than defective materials or workmanship it will NOT be covered..

Salesmanship 101 for unsuspecting customers ;-)

Our local dealer offers a free "Lifetime Warranty" on engine components and drive line components when you purchase the vehicle. It's for the parts only, not labor. And it's only good at this dealer as well.

The catch, however, is that you HAVE to take it in at 75,000 miles for them to inspect the vehicle. It's buried in the fine print on the "Warranty Certificate" that comes with it.

It seems a lot of dealerships for different makes and models are offering "Lifetime Warranties" these days.

Too good to be true and it's a dealer by dealer, not Toyota in general.
Usually when you see these things and try to use them they bust your ass on labor. Like they will give you the CV joint and charge a thousand bucks to install it.... and they only give you warranty if labor is done at their shop and their rate.

That's what interested me about this one is that it's parts, labor, fluids, taxes, etc... It's also not just for repair work done at this dealership...it's fairly well laid out in the fine print. We'll see what happens in 10-20-30 years, as that's how long I keep my trucks. No matter what it's far beyond how long my factory warranty will be in effect. But yeah, could be bullshit but it didn't cost me any extra and it was not a deciding factor in my purchase.

    Wait until something breaks .
The lifetime warranty " adjuster " comes in and takes pictures of the worn out parts and submits the pictures to the life time warranty board of directors .
Get in line and wait for the board of directors to make a decision , meanwhile your truck sits broken as you wait and wait and wait for your truck to get repaired .

They dont care if you are on vacation in another town or city when it happens

Owning a shop , I have seen so much of this in the past .
Customer says , dont worry just go ahead and do the repairs , I have lifetime warranty .
It doesnt work this way .
Just another way to rob money from loyal paying customers .

I assure you. You paid for it somewhere. That’s being said there are a couple dealers down my way that have the same type of deal.

    Could very well be.
Like I said I didn't pay anything extra and didn't buy any extended warranty either so no robbing here.
Probably a good sales hook for some people with the dealership knowing most folks trade their trucks in after a few years or the next gee-wiz 4th Generation comes out.
I'm a regular maintenance kind of guy who's easy on my vehicles as I want them to last, so we'll see if/when I ever need this.
At my age by the time I'd probably need major work done -based on past experience - the kids will be hiding my keys anyway...;)

My advice is, “Don’t let it be what you base your decision on”
Buy what you need or what. Not what comes with the warranty.

I'd guess it's paid for by the extra sales they may get from people who take the hook - not many folks keep a vehicle long-term these days. And by long term I mean 10/20+ years. And betting most buy into the expensive 'extended warranty' line anyway when sitting down with the finance person....THAT'S the real cash cow for the dealerships!
Yeah they for sure made some $$$ off me from a few accessories I wanted but it's my first new truck since 1984 and since I'm very comfortable in life these days I'm OK with that...I got it exactly as I wanted it...;)

    Exactly!
    And that's what I did.
This was one of those 'hmmm, that's interesting' things but certainly not a deciding factor on what/where I bought my vehicle.
