    When was this logo dropped?

I’ve been used to seeing it for years & just realized it isn’t really a thing used by Toyota anymore?

(As well as what is the history?)

Good riddance to that one! :D

I was never a big fan of the "pointy-T" logo as used on our family's 1981 truck, either.

À girlfriend of mine years ago (a Toyota fan who grew up in the mountain west) described is as “a guy in a cowboy hat”.

That’s a great description and I now always think of it as the cowboy hat logo.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
That doesn't show up in the history of the logo, at least according to Google results. It may have been a proposed logo that didn't make it.

    Found this:

The Toyota Trucks logo was an official logo for the truck lines from 2000-somthing until a few years ago (not sure fow many).

The ovals TOYOTA logo was adopted in the early 90s. My 1995 Taco had that originally in the grill.
It has several justifications, overlapping stuff, the letters, & I think there is a thread going through a needle eye as an allusion to the original Toyoda looms.

Here is the octagon one used on brochures
There are hats, shirts, jackets, keychains & much more with it in circulation.
