A Tacoma is veeeeery far down on the list of what truck I'd use to build a motorhome with.

At least start with a truck that gets decent gas mileage before you add all that shit that kills gas mileage.

This is old. I remember seeing it on Craigslist when I used to live in Oregon. I think a little over a year now?
It's neat. But I'd hard pass. Too big, too heavy and too underpowered

Lots of the popular campers for Tacomas are not legal they are over payload limit generally, sometimes a lot. FWC with self contained water, stove, etc is heavy. Vagabond Outdoors Drifter is a much better camper shell for a tacoma, they only weight 340 lbs or so. There are several new brands of this type camper on the market now.

I would stick with a legal Class C motorhome myself if I was in the market for a motorhome, with proper weight capacity rear axle, proper size brakes for the added weight, etc for certification safety. A tacoma has a very spindley C channel frame for starters, I would want a fully boxed frame for the weight of a motorhome.
