2008 Toyota Tacomas have a real bad location/material for their fuel tanks. Recently I was hit by a pair of thieves that drilled a hole in my tank to get the gas. It probably took them all of a half a minute to punch a 3/8 hole in the side of the 18 Gal plastic tank and let the gas drain into their 1 Gal bottle. The rest of the gas went into the street and down the drain. The tank is plastic and replacing the damaged tank with a used one cost me a cool $500. New tanks are about $700 unmounted. That tank can be reached by bending over slightly at the side of the truck and reach about a foot in.

I'm looking for a STEEL skid plate that will cover that tank so these *a######s can't get to it. Would anyone happen to know where I might find something like that? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

There are gas tank skid plates but they usually only cover the bottom part of the truck to protect the gas tank from getting hit by road debris.

Edit: Heres another company that also sells Steel Gas Tank Skid Plates: https://mobtownoffroad.com/product/2005-2020-toyota-tacoma-fuel-tank-skid-plate/
