Toyota is extending the hp fuel pump warranty to 10 years. Cool.

Is this for all 3rd gen years or just certain year models?

 

Don’t know. It says certain models of 2016-2022.

 

Have there been any engine fires from the HPFP?

 

Is this before or after you had the FP replaced?

 

I’ve never had the pump replaced

 

Toyota got a bad batch of fuel pumps. They know which trucks were affected, there's a website you can go to, or go to the dealership, run your vin and they'll tell you if your truck has the bad pump or not.

 

This is different than the previous recall for the low-pressure fuel pump. This warranty extension is
for the high-pressure fuel pump. I haven't seen any posts about leaks from the HPFP, but obviously
there must have been some issues.

Could this cause a loss of power?

 

I had my HPFP replaced due to it squeaking when the direct injection was in use. Covered under the extended warranty when I had it

Just remember if you go to a dealer and have them check and there is noting wrong, you pay for appt. Read all of the letter to confirm.

 

So I've got what sounds exactly like a chirping/peeping High Pressure Fuel Pump noise that follows the revs sounds like it's coming from the exact location on the videos I have found. I have no warranty on my 2016 TRD sport and I just called Toyota to see if I wax affected by a recall and they said there are no open recalls for my VIN. However it seems like the "some 2016" models could apply to me for a replacement.

What are my options with Toyota or should I just purchase the fuel pump and have it installed by someone else?

 

up to 19' since i was a part of the recall and replacement. although i remember them asking for me to come in when the tank was 1/4 or below leading me to believe they replaced the tank pump vs the HPFP
