Any of you guys running the Toyota genuine engine oil that can be bought from your dealership? Gonna be changing the oil on my 2023 sr5 at 2k miles (break in oil change). Seems to be lot of mystery’s about the genuine Toyota oil, hard to find in depth information on it. It’s made by Mobil 1 and that’s about all I’ve found. Wonder if there’s any additive difference or pros and cons between Mobil 1 and Toyota oil?

I've been running it on all my vehicles since starting working at a Toyota 10 years ago.

I don't think about it too much, its just a simple synthetic oil. I would never go out of my way to buy it though. I'd suggest getting whatever 0W20 is on sale.

    I use it. It's only around $30 for a 6-pack.

My dealer doesn’t even stock it, they use Pennzoil synthetic they get in bulk through Southeast Toyota dealers association. I’ve read of other dealers not carrying it either. They do stock mobil 1 by the quart and said if I bring the oil I want to them they will use that. I picked up some 0W-20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and some OEM filters and plan on doing my own oil change next change.
Yes there are differences between Mobile 1 and TMO, ExxonMobile provides TMO per Toyota specs (or so I’ve read).
Attached are the specs I found for TMO 0W-20 SN+ and newer SP blends.
API SN PLUS was a supplemental service category adopted by the API to provide consumers with motor oils that reduced the occurrence of LSPI in TGDI engines while the ILSAC GF-6 was being developed. API's “SP” service category is derived from ILSAC GF-6 and licensed to motor oils for gasoline engines.

How’s it run on 5w30? Doesn’t that void the warranty?

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
That's what the last gen had as OE recommendation.

Your owners manual tells you what weight to run and when to change based on use, temps, etc.

0 20 was produced to improve startup lubrication and MPG.

No warranty issues. Keep in mind, actual oil related (as in what oil is used) engine damage is
    1) very unusual
    2) more commonly caused by low volume
    3) sometimes caused by inadequate OCIs where the lubricity of the oil is lost

I use cheap oil, but make up for it by only buying Toyota brand gasoline.

From what I have read it is indeed made by Mobil, however it is a Toyota exclusive formula so not just a re-branded consumer product.

Although any quality product that meets specifications is satisfactory my local dealer sells the Toyota oil at a fair price so I use it.

Dealer here uses barrels of mobil1 extended service...I saw them sitting in their service bay. They did the first toyota care visit at 5k miles with it, and the 3rd around 10k miles later. I think all this oil bs is over thought. I've always done 10, and 15k mile oil changes in the past with our Toyotas using a well known synthetic like mobil 1, and their filters. Never any issue. If one wants to waste money on more frequent change intervals, have at it.

I've been running mobil 1 5w-30 in my 3.5 for a few months now, but will change it next time to something lighter next fall, like 5w-20. When it got to -15 degrees one winter morning the truck did not like the 5w-30 in it, making a loud groan on startup. Otherwise no issues that is warm now.
