Most people use that plastidip stuff and that's probably what I'll do. Not sure how to remove it either, maybe someone will chime in soon.

There are 3 tabs holding on the toyota badge to the grille itself. You push them towards the center of the emblem. I find it easiest to squeeze the two on the sides towards each other, then the top clip just push down. If you take of your grille completely (just two bolts and clips at the top of the grille), you can see how to pop off the emblem from the back.

The pic below shows the 3 mounting points where the little tabs are.

Just a few things. Hard bed cover, a few decals, TRD Pro grille with raptor lights. Little stuff, Ejection Seats
    1. Buy a Pro Grill with the black letters...Average price is $130.00 with raptor lights, $100.00 without. https://www.*******************/col...5170-for-toyota-tacoma?variant=35863310925992
    2. Look on Etsy and see if someone has a vinyl wrap for it.
    3. Find a company that will do a vinyl rap for it.
    4. Tape around it, and paint it with the high-temp grill paint. You can get it at Wal-mart or any of the big box hardware store.

You're welcome, hope the picture helps with locating where the clips are. Good luck!

You should be able to reach behind there and pop out the little prongs and it pushes right out. I blacked out mine. First with matte spray paint but it quickly was chipping. So I used plasti dip and it’s held up great for about 8 years now.

I plastidipped my grill and emblem. Turned out great.
Also, replaced my mirror blinkers and foglights to get rid of all the remaining chrome.

Idk I'm kind of proud of my truck to where I want that yota symbol popping. But to each their own

I’m proud of my truck too, but chrome and silver just don’t look good IMO. I like the subtle look of the black on black.

Chrome won’t get you home, but black will get you back. Not a fan of chrome, or plasti-dip. Durability of the finish is always a concern.

I highly recommend going with Plastidip. I blacked out my badge with paint, and within 6 months it had rock chips in it. Plastidip won't give you shine (if that's what you want), but it's very durable, so it will not get rock chips in it.
