I asked in another thread but figured I would be more likely to get a response with a new thread.

Anybody familiar with "Toyota Vehicle Special Purchase Program"?
It's basically a discount for employees and family of employees.
    From participating dealers you get:
    "dealer's total invoice price
    -minus reserve
    -minus wholesale finance reserve
-plus any dealer installed options and accessories
-plus applicable document fees, tax, title, reg. fees
The buyer will also receive the benefit of the applicable National Incentives as listed on Attachment A" (for 2012 it was $400 for Tacomas.)

So, is this likely to be a major savings or just a lot of fluff where someone could do just as good by negotiating?

I will have to order my truck because I want a Base 4x4 AC V6 MT and those are hard to find here.

From past experience with a Chevy deal where the idea was to get the "great employee pricing" we got screwed... Could have done WAY better negotiating as an independent party but once you've opened that line there's no taking it back. That was Chevy however so Toyota may be better but I highly doubt it. A bigger point to consider tho is what my dads been known to call your "ordering chip". If you're willing to pay for a special ordered truck use that to your advantage, they're gonna want to offer you all the extras that run the price up, but it you go in as if you'd be jus as happy with something on the lot you should be able to really talk down the price of the ordered truck.

MSRP on the Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD I ordered was $35,543 Invoice per TrueCar is $33,107. Best TrueCar price in SoCal is $33,278.

Toyota Employee Pricing is just under $31,000. So it seems like a pretty good deal.

Pretty accurate on the employee pricing; I got my 12' Taco 4x4 longbed Sport with no Entune for $31.2k plus taxes/fees
