So I am trying to decide wether or not to extend my factory Toyota care. I am just a couple hundred miles away from 25000 so I'd have to get it soon to qualify for the 30,000 mile service. Question I have is. Is it really worth the $300. Do they really go through and check and tighten all the bolts and do everything on the recommended service list?

Also, does it cover things like brake pads, or even wiper blades and such?

From what I have been told recently via toyota, it only covers oil changes ( possibly tire changes ) but I asked specifically about the differentials, trans, and transfer case oils and I was told no those are not covered.

$300 for one service? Not when an oil change costs less than $30 at home and I don't even need to dig out the ramps.

    Toyotacare. More like Toyotaneglect.

There is almost 0 value in having that service when you buy your truck. If they cover only oil changes and not everything else like t case, diff and tranny what is even the point in having it.

I'm not even taking mine in for the 2 free ones. It's always the most recent person hired doing the oil changes and they barely give them enough time to do it. Everything is rushed. I've only been frustrated taking mine in over the years.

I'd say no to Toyota Care. You can buy filters and oil for cheap to do the work yourself in 30 minutes; just document your work thoroughly for maintenance history. That helps when going to resell. I'll attach a template one member posted.

As for the key components, such as trans/diff/etc, the actual extended warranty purchase would be worth it IMO. Others will disagree, but my truck is a daily driver and I'm not mechanically inclined.

I plan to purchase the extended when my 3 yrs gets close. I didn't bother buying at truck purchase. I didn't want the deal to hinge on them trying to make their commission on the extended warranty when I had the truck I ordered finally on-site after a 5 month wait.

I'm at 25000 just about and I think for the 300$ it's until 45,000 miles. But it says it covered all recommended maintenance. What im wondering is if it covers the special driving conditions recommended maintenance. Like dirt road driving/ off road. (I don't off road).

Like changing the rear differential fluid and tightening all bolts on the body

I don't believe so. Just normal maintenance requirements. You should confirm that with your dealer.

its recommended maintenance not required. See if you can leverage the sale if they do that service for free then you will buy the truck.

Yeah it not worth it to me then. Recommended maintenance is a piece of cake. It's the other stuff I thought may be nice to not have to do

No, the goons at Toyota will scratch your paint, leave grease in your interior, lose your value stem caps, mess with your stereo, jam new parts together, hot rod your truck, pick their nose in your cab, and worse.
