Say the Toyoguard Platinum is already listed on the window sticker and included - does that mean the paint protection sealant was already done (and interior fabric protector)? Or is that something done after purchasing the truck? I'm leaning towards it was already done to the truck before it hit the lot but not sure. Any way to tell or test if it was done? Is the paint sealant a ceramic coating (says it is a 3 year warranty on the sealant)?

    Thanks

Port option for SET, most certainly not a ceramic coating. Huge profit add on for dealer. I'd try to negotiate if off price, your better off coating yourself.

That sounds like a dealership addendum... was there a small strip of “sticker” added to the right side of the factory sticker? The dealer add on looks just like the factory, but on close inspection one can tell it’s not part of the standard factory product. If so, it’s a common ripoff practice by dealerships...

It's already on your car. Just turn it down and say you don't want it when they pressure you into adding it. The sticker is just proof so you can file claims later, so without paying you can't file claims. Don't pay for it and enjoy the fact it's on there while they pretend it's not.

My dealership tried to talk me into it and I was like no I don't want to bring it back in and he said oh they would do it right now and I said I don't wanna wait and they said it takes 5 minutes lmao. I obviously did not pay.

Its not from Toyota, its a SET port added option. As long as your happy thats all that matters.

My truck came from The scumbags at SET and the dealer absolutely did not budge with this ripoff addon.

My truck also came with factory installed swirls wth 2 miles on the ODO, So Im guessing this is a rush job at port. Definitely not done with any care.

I'm not exactly sure what a set port option is PrimerTaco, but gather it is from whoever makes the initial truck order and they add the options. Thing is, Paint protection has 3 year warranty and thought it might be ceramic coating being that long of time. I bought blackfire ceramic kit, but now I'm not sure if I should use it - just in case it voids any warranty?

That video is hilarious!!!! Imagine many people can relate to that video lol.

Ah ok, so they install the options at the port. Hopefully they fixed the swirls before you took the truck home.

Mine was 4 miles and I took it on a 20 mile test drive just to be sure I was ok with the transmission operation ( a process, but got to do it) - and all seems to be just fine.

Toyota builds it at one of the two factories it is then delivered to the SET port (Southeast Toyota region) before it gets sent to whatever dealer in the region, there they tack on these unique add ons like pop lock, Toyoguard, TSS package (wheels and tires), etc. it’s not a factory option and I can guarantee you they are not selling you ceramic coating, most likely a sealant. I would bring the truck home paint correct and remove the sealant along with fixing whatever they may have etched into the finish and then coat yourself with your ceramic as planned. The 3 year warranty lines up with the 3 year factory warranty for paint.

That SET sounds like a pain in the ass for anyone buying a truck in that region.

That's what I've heard, same with the guys who have to deal with Hawaii region. Dealers here have their stupid add ons but you can negotiate them out of the price fairly easily since they are added on here and are usually simple things like nitrogen filled tires, tint, door edge sill protectors.

On the plus side southeasr Toyota gives you an extra year warranty. Too bad I moved to a different region that says Toyotacare gold or whatever it's called isn't real lol.
