I am looking to purchase a new set of tires.
I'm leaning toward 285/70R17's. once I throw my Icon C/O's and UCA's up front I think it would be just the right size.

    Any opinions on these tires?
    Any that I'm missing?
I live in Oregon, so it's mostly dry and wet pavement with 40% off-road driving.
Lately we've been getting ice and snow. How do these tires do in it?

    Thank you for your help.

Haha good answer. I love my KO2's. So far handled anything I threw at them including snow. My friend had the R/T's and he loves them. Those are all good tires so either way you will be happy think.

I went from Toyo MT 285x70x17 to my current KO2s 275x70x17. I really like the BFGs a whole lot better. It could be because I went down from 285 to 275, but the KO2s just seem much more quiet. They also do great in snow, and rain. Plus in my opion they look the best.

I have the BF KO2's. Rain, snow or sleet; I always have traction. Very smooth, quiet and civilized tires.

I'd go with dura tracs. I hear they're good for snow.

I have been over the mountains twice in the last couple of weeks here in BC on absolute crap roads and my KO2s did great.
I do like the look of the coopers, and nittos, lots of choices

I've been running them for 30,000 miles now.

Great on road, snow, slush, rain etc

Fine by me off road. Moderate CO wheeling.

Cheaper than BFG KO2 and are the tread pattern that BFG nearly copied with the KO2s.

    Factory siped also.

I think of the K02s as more of a road tire much more than an off-road tire. They'd handle dry and wet pavement fine I think. I wouldn't wanna try too much mud or too much snow though.

The MT/Rs are really cool, but in my opinion are overkill for your uses.

Just straight out not a fan of Toyo.

I really like the ST Maxxs and I think they'd do great for all of these situations, but I'm not 100% sure about the snow.

The DuraTracs seem like they would be the best pick as long as you took it easy on the sidewalls. I always hear about the weak sidewalls with this tire.

I've run Duratrac's, KO2's, and now Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. So far as far as road manners the Falkens are my favorite, but the Dura's and KO2's were great as well. Haven't tested the Falkens off road or in snow yet.

That's what killed my Duratracs. Hit a piece of metal on the freeway, didn't pierce the tread, but the deflection of the tire was enough to split the sidewall.

Stay away from an MT if you touch snow/icy conditions. I've lived, and barely survived with a set of KM2's that were siped. Worse decision ever. And from talking to folks around me (MN) the MT/R's are just as shitty in the snow/ice as the KM2's. It's literally like they glued a bunch of hockey pucks to a tire and said, "They're great in the mud!"... Which they are, but then you remember that hockey pucks by design have the least amount of traction possible in the snow/ice. My vote is for Duratracs or at least KO2's, as I owned the dura's previously and will be returning to them shortly.)

My KM2s slip when it rains on some roads lol. I agree mud tires are a definite no no for snow on pavement driving, but wouldn't they do good with super deep snow off-road?

I've wheeled them when new in some deep stuff, and they did pretty darn good until the ascents iced up. I am running 33x10.5x15's. My buddy with a '99 4Runner and 33x12.5x15 duratracs with 30k miles on them did just as well, if not better. Deep snow, you want to float.

Agreed. It's the only tire that looks this aggressive and is available in a 285 and standard load range. That and it being significantly cheaper than the KO2's I had to get em'.
