About to get the toyo open country AT3 in a 285/70/17 on my stock '21 tacoma TRD OR. Anyone have the same setup? saw on youtube that you only need to cut a little bit off the back fender and should not rub at all is that true? Pics would be great!

As in stock, no leveling kit, or anything? That size tire will rub the back of the front fenders at partial lock. You cannot go any larger than a 275 width tire at stock height and stock wheels.

I'm lifted 2" on mine, and have 285/70R17s.

Correct no leveling kit or anything. Thanks for the advise. I Saw this video and was hoping that it could fit with little trimming.

It's possible, what wheel are you going to run? I'm running a 0 offset now, and there is rubbing when I hit bumps while turning into parking lots. You do need to trim the plastics, and hammer in the pinch weld to make them fit.

You won't be able to run that size tire without a minimum of 1" wheel spacers and some trimming. This is probably the most asked question on the forum, "What's the largest tire size I can fit without a lift", so I would do some searching, you'll find the info you need.

285 is asking for trouble unless you get real lucky with wheel offsets. I run this tire on 17x9 -12 wheels with a 2.5" lift and had to do a considerable amount of work to stop the rubbing.

I'm digging that tire + wheel combo. Looks great. I'm looking at going up a size from my current 265/70R17 Falkens (also have 2" lift), and want something with less negative offset than the SCS Ray 10's that I'm running now.

Are you getting any poke on the sides with this setup?

I have nearly zero tire sticking out of my fenders, I've gone up a little on the lift to about 2.5", but have the same zero offset and 285/70R17's.

Hello, I’m thinking going with the 285, do you just need the cmc?

If you go with a 0 offset wheel, you don't need to do a CMC. If you go for anything with a negative offset, you'll need a CMC, an alignment and trimming to run them. It's also not just the 285, it's the side all height, and what size wheel you choose. A 285/70R17, on a 17" wheel, is going to be about the same width and height as a 285/75R16. Now, if you.want the tallest tire, a 285/75R17 will be an inch taller.

Everyone here needs to be more specific than just saying 285's.
