Toyo Open Country AT3 vs Falken Wildpeak AT3W

Hey all, just wanted to ask some advice of you guys.

Just bought some Toyo Open Country AT3 Tires. Very hard making a decision between the two. Ended up ordering the Toyos since I thought it was cool they were made in America/Japan vs China, but just partially starting to second guess myself a little bit as I do with these big purchases.

Any thoughts on these two tires?

 

Wildpeaks have a bit deeper tread and have more aggressive shoulder blocks. Other than that, they are both great tires.

I was hesitant too because wildpeaks are made in Thailand but so far they have been perfect.

 

Don't second guess yourself,made in America or Japan is where your search should end Toyos are a very good tire.

 

Had the both Toyo AT2 and Toyo AT3 and they were great! I’m considering switching to falken wild peaks just to try something new plus it looks more aggressive imo

I honestly see nothing wrong with products from Thailand, Falken wildpeak ATW3 are made in Thailand but they’re owned by a Japanese company

 

I have them as well and find the ATIII are superior in every way compared to the ATII.

 

Look cool! How would you rate them in terms of noise and comfort? Noise isn't a huge deal for me because I already have an offroad roof rack on producing a goood bit of wind noise haha

 

They honestly both seem to be really good. Part of me was kind of worried that wildpeaks wouldn't balance correctly, as I'm seeing that tire shops were having issues with balancing them, but I get that not every person would probably have an issue...

Had toyo at3 for 27,000 miles and no problems so far. Rotated every 5,000 miles and properly inflated.

 

Compared to other similar sized brands I have used (K02, BigO AT, Open Country ATII, GY MTR) the ATIII are the quietest and smoothest on pavement.

 

I have 2 sets of atw3 all made in china. There has been a few threads about it. The fallen rep says it was due to Covid but my first set was prior to Covid. I even had them check to make sure both sets weren’t Chinese rip offs.

 

I had Toyo Open Country ATIII's on my old Outback, and now Falken Wildpeak AT3W's on my Tacoma. I guess I lucked out as mine are made in Japan. But both are great tires, would buy either again without hesitation. Toyos had maybe a little more road noise.

 

Ive got the Toyos and had the Falkens.

I dont off road other than on some creek beds so not a lot of input there. On road, i cant really tell a noticeable difference.

 

Thanks for the input. So would you guys say they fair pretty well for a daily driver? Like on par with each other you think? I wanted something more aggressive to go with the TRD wheels I just got too, so hoping the toyos should accomplish that yet.

I wonder if one could even tell the difference between noise on the two, I mean I have my music cranked up most of the time so probably not an issue for me.

 

Road noise, no difference i could tell.
As you said, the roof rack makes a decent amount already. Certainly neither are loud like mud tires.

Aggressive looks? you tell me. Falkens might be a little more aggressive looking on the sidewall.

 

Cooper Rugged Trek > Toyo AT3 > Falken Wildpeak.

 

They both look cool, but I mean maybe the falkens look cooler from the sidewall, also i wonder if the white lettering has something to do with the sidewall appearance? In terms of rubber that is…

Yeah I mean I’m probably going to just have to stick with one and go with it at this point. They both look cool and they both get good reviews, and I don’t know if I would even be able to tell the difference in the real world between them.

 

Toyos were out of stock on tire rack, so ordered from simple tire. I guess we’ll see when they ship, and if it’s not for a while then maybe I’ll go with the wildpeaks if they’ll take too long

 

Update: apparently simpletire doesn’t allow cancellations after 30 mins, so looks like they’re what I’m getting
