I'm looking for some new tires since my Coopers are almost done. I'm looking for a lighter tire with less road noise but still an AT.

I'm looking at the Toyos but I wanted to get some opinions on them as far as performance, noise, etc. I can't really find a lot of "reviews" on TW, only found a couple

Favorite tires I’ve owned for Tacoma. Not as aggressive looking as my ridge grapplers but rode much better and lasted longer than these are going to. Also quieter than the nittos and plenty aggressive looking for me and my needs off road. Also had no rubbing issues with the 33 AT3s but I do have a slight rub with Ridge Grapplers since there .6” bigger in diameter which I wasn’t aware of when initially got them. Toyo makes a phenomenal tire maybe the best these days. My tire size is 255 80 r17

Great tires, when my current AT III are needing replacement, it will be the same.

I test drove a newer Tacoma a few months back with a cheap 3" spacer lift and 285/70/17 C load Toyo open country AT3's. The AT3's are buttery smooth and soft. Only tire softer than I know of is Michelin's LTX M/S.

I'm going with Toyo AT3's for my next set.

If you can afford them, they would be my choice. I loved my Open Country AT IIs. The difference being the IIIs supposedly have much better wet handling.

I'm not sure, there's a lot of mixed reviews about wet driving on the other thread that was listed earlier

I have both ATII and ATIII and the III are superior in every way.

An LT285 size. Most people seem to run the 265 sizes

I just had ATIIIs installed last week on mine. They feel good compared to the stock Toyos that came on my TRD Sport but not about 100 miles so far. I went one size up to 265/70/17 and I do have some slight rubbing on the mud flap, need to figure out how to get rid of that. I did also switch to the SEMA wheels with a bit more offset so the combo could be the issue

I have had no problems at all in rain. They are better than my last Cooper AT3 4S in rain and a load quieter after 40,000 miles

This is my second winter with them as i got them last summer so a little over a year old now. No complaints, quite and wearing good. Wish the side walls had a bit more aggressive and wish they had deeper treads too in 265/75-16. The bigger tires have a beefier sidewall tread and deeper treads not sure why the P-metrics don’t 9DBEBA05-6894-4E48-A313-9E9F03923A82.jpgC6528645-36CC-457B-970A-B75C924D3B26.jpg

Get an alignment with more caster... Anything over 2 and you shouldn't rub :) Just went through that myself with my new 265/70/17 (MotoMaster Eliminator X-Trail A/T) which replaced my Toyo ATIII's.

I've been looking at running the same tires but haven't figured out wheels and offset. What are you running out of curiosity?

Just went in and got an alignment at a local reputable shop per your suggestion. The guy said it was already at 2.4, and he maxed it out at 3.2, that was the limit. Quick test showed no more rubbing lock to lock in fwd and reverse. He said it was still close, so we'll see when we hit some bumps.

Did you end up getting the Toyo Open country? You said you're looking for a lighter tire but these are 60+ lb? How did that affect your miles per gallon?
