I need to pull my boat out of the water this week but I’ve never done it with this vehicle and I’m not sure how it will handle on the ramp. The boat is only 2500 after trailer/gas and everything and I have a v6 SR-5 so it should be able to pull it on paper but since it’s only 2wd I’m concerned the back tires will just spin on the wet boat ramp. Anybody have any experience with this? The ramps aren’t horribly steep but it’s definitely uphill and usually wet

You won’t know until you try. I’ve only needed 4wd once on a sand covered ramp. My boat and trailer are about 2300lbs. The engine is plenty powerful. Don’t forget you have AutoLsd.

a few hundred pounds of sand bags in the bed to help get traction might help

Just make sure your bilge plugs are pulled and your shifter is in drive, not reverse. :D

Can't imagine how a small 2500 pound boat would be an issue with this truck, even on the most algae-ridden slick ramps.

Will pull it out with zero issues. Worst case scenario lock it in 4wd. I’ve pulled heavier boats out of the water than that no issue at all and haven’t ever even used 4wd to do it.

I pull a boat and trailer about 35-37 hundred pounds and have never had a problem on any ramp. On a slick ramp I have used lockers. You'll be fine.

Should be fine never had to use 4wd to pull mine out. As long as you are using actual ramps and not sand

Relax, i pulled my 2k lb. boat out this fall for the first time with my 2020 v6 sr5 access cab. Only needed 2wd. It was childs play, plus it was up a grade, and then a steeper gravel driveway exit. I too thought after having a 4.7 v8 tundra it'd be harder.

I guess that sometimes folks just don't catch the obvious.

Sorry, didn’t see the 2wd only. However, my statement still stands the same as it’ll pull it out no issue on concrete boat ramp. Loose material ramp, be difficult

No worries - I'm guilty of the same thing.

He should be able to pull the empty trailer up the ramp with no issues, so if pulling the trailer WITH the boat becomes impossible, take the boat off the trailer, pull the trailer up the ramp, and get someone with a 4x4 to haul it up with the boat on it.

I pull a 3000lb boat regularly. I have never had any tire spinning of any kind on any of the ramps I use. I always pull out while in 2wd.

I pull 3500lb boat/trailer in 2wd without issue. Of course, decent tires and ramp surface conditions do play a role in this also but you’ll probably be fine.

Air down the rear tires. The tongue weight should add a bunch of traction.

When I was a kid I used to pull the boat with dad's buick riviera. Some days when it was particularly slick we kept some wheel chocks and a bucket of sand in the trunk that we could throw under the tires to power out. It never got so bad that we had to resort to the sand and the chocks, but it was nice to have just in case.

4WD is certainly convenient but I'll be the weirdo that says it isn't necessary for boat ramps. People have been launching boats for generations without it.

3k boat/trailer here. Always pulled out with no wheel spin in 2wd.
