Torsion bar lift??

Okay this may be a "newb" based question so please forgive me, but is it possible to crank up the torsion bars on our 2nd generation tacomas? I couldn't find anything official giving me an answer.

 

we dont have torsion bars....

 

If you had torsion bars maybe, but you don't, you have a coilover shock setup.

Huh...Second time in about a week this has been asked.

They hit it tho. No torsion bars to be cranked. Either a spacer, suspension, or body lift.

 

Are people switching from other truck companies to toyota and not knowing or seeing a difference in suspension?

 

thats what i was thinking, my dad is a hard core chevy guy and thought i had a torsion bar, well until we scoped out the suspension the day my truck came in.

 

Don't the older toyotas have torsion bars?

Never knew there was an issue with a torsion bar suspension. I'm not going to argue with you about the Ranger and Colorado sucking but wasn't aware of anything regarding a torsion bar suspension in particular.

 

Gotcha. The only vehicle I ever drove with a torsion bar suspension was my Z71 and it rode real nice. My last work truck was the Mazda B2300 (basically a Ranger) but it had coils, I'm guessing because they were 2wd or 4 cyl? Never had the pleasure of riding in a Ranger with a torsion bar suspension, guess I was fortunate in that regard. You are right though, Ranger to a Tacoma is a huge difference. I do miss the ride from the Z71 at times though...

 

Yes my 91 toyota pick up had them.

 

My 97 z71 had them, but I like my Tacoma so much better!

 

the Z71 colorado's have um too....all the others have coils tho. out of all the suspension stuff tho on the colorado i think the torsions are great. 2 piece uca's take the cake in regards to rediculousness...imho....
