    Hello all,

Thanks in advance for the help. I love this forum!

I've come across a lot of info on torque specs for the front/rear differentials, and transfer case, but it's all on 2nd and 3rd gen tacomas. Maybe it's the same across the board?

Can anyone confirm if these below are the proper torque specs for a 2002 3.4L 4wd TRD?

    Front Differential:
    Fill - 29 ft.lbs
    Drain - 48 ft.lbs

    Rear Differential:
    Fill - 36 ft.lbs
    Drain - 36 ft.lbs

    Transfer Case:
    Fill - 27 ft.lbs
    Drain - 27 ft.lbs

Also, is it possible to acquire a reference manual to torque specs for your specific vehicle? I've downloaded the 2003 Factory Service Manual, but I can't seem to find this specific info. The folders are really tough to navigate though, so maybe I'm just not seeing it.

    Thanks again,
    Elias

Haynes manual has the following torques listed:
    Front diff plugs 20
    Rear diff plugs 36
    Transfer plugs 25

Oh wow, yeah that’s much different. I’m not familiar with the Haynes manual. These are safe specs to go by? Also, fill and drain are the same per section? The other specs have the front diff as having different specs for fill and drain

    Thanks!

The factory service manual matches your front and rear diff numbers, OP. I can't find anything for sure on the transfer case. The FSM does have "plug" referenced at it is at 27 ft-lbs.

I found the transfer case numbers in the FSM--27 is right.

I'm gonna start ignoring Haynes for torque numbers...

Alright sweet, I’ll go with those FSM numbers. Thanks, guys.
One more thing, do you guys have the printed FSM manual or the digital version? And where did you find the specs?
I have the digital version for the 2003 model and I wasn’t able to find those specs in there. Again, I was kinda struggling looking through it so maybe I just missed it haha. I should probably print it out and put everything in order.
    Thanks again,
    Elias

I have an html version. I'm not sure where I acquired it. For the sake of reference, the torque specs for the front diff fill and drain plugs are on page SS-79.

I keep them laminated in packing tape and tucked in the back of my driver's seat pocket...comes in handy when you're working on the truck and don't have to fumble around online looking for certain torque specs. I've found these to be very reliable so far
