Torque on brakes

    Hey guys im about to change my front brake rotors and i just wantes to ask a question. The two bolts that hold the break caliper together Does it requires a torque wrench? Do i really need one? Thank you all!

    The brake caliper mounting bolts are 90 ft/lbs

    Here you go, I keep these 2 sheets printed out and laminated in my truck...they come in super handy

    Thank you brotha eon_blue i better go buy a torque wrench! and is 90ft lbs alot of torque?

    It's not what I'd call "a lot" but it is pretty tight, for reference 90ft/lbs is the same torque you want on your u-bolts, and those hold your leaf springs to the rear axle lol. Lug nuts call for 83 ft/lbs

    To me 'a lot' of torque is like 175 ft/lbs and over, but it's kind of a matter of opinion really

    Also I really like the Pittsburgh 1/2" torque wrench from Harbor Freight that goes up to 150 ft/lbs, I use it all the time for a few years now and never had an issue with it. It's pretty cheap too, like 20 or 30 bucks

    haha I know what you mean brother! thanks for the wonderful info! i really appreciate it. Manual taco's FTW! i will buy one tomorrow. I bought helluh sockets and new jack stands with a hydraulic jack and I am excited to do this.

    Do not remove the bolts that hold the calipers together - only the two holding the calipers to the spindle.
