    This is great news .
2 quarts low is a fair bit of fluid to be driving around for 5000k with and could possibly be a contributing factor to the pump noise you are hearing . At least you have documentation proving it was low and are covered under warranty .

Back to the serpentine belt . We remove the belt and start the truck to eliminate everything rotating on the front of the engine . It is very suprising how much noise can carry through an alluminum engine making it sound like the transmission is making the noise . Many mechanics have been fooled by this

Mine made an audible noise as well that was similar. I typically heard mine and low speeds on hills. It could have been happening all the time and only audible at low speeds (no wind noise or howling diff to drown it out).

One of the many reasons I lost patience with the truck.

One reason why I'm thinking of trading this bitch in. Tired of dealing with Toyota.

Get an outback like me and we can be lesbians and drive off into the sunset to play softball.

Seriously, this truck and Toyotas responses to issues are the reason it will likely be like last Toyota. The outback, albeit in a different class of vehicle, just seems to be put together so much better. There aren't glaring issues right out of the gate. I have about 450 miles on it now...by 350 miles my Tacoma was back at the dealership. The transmission was going bananas. It was slamming to a stop like I was getting rear ended.

I digress. My only regret in all of it was believing that Toyota would address the issues. They won't. Lemon it while you can or force a buy back. I got a decent deal on trade, but a buy back would have been better.

i think it's just the intake from increased air flow or possibly the exhaust. mine makes it sometimes when in ECT mode. more noticeable in low gears/higher rpm.
